My son takes the parcels to the post office for me after school for anything that's sold in the shop, today he went on to post some for me, my wife dropped him off and waiting for him at the post office, he went in to post them but it was busy so he came out to tell his mum not to wait he will post them then walk home it's only a couple of mins away, as he said this he turned round to run back across the road and got hit by a car, he was knocked unconscious for about 10 mins, the ambulance came he was strapped to a board with neck brace, we have been on A&E for the last 5 hours, he is being kept in over night only to keep an eye on him, he's going to be fine, but the first thing he wanted to know was had the parcels been lost and they needed posting, now that's dedication for you

The woman that hit him said she couldn't stop had to go pick her kids up from school, she was just about to drive off when my wife asked her for her details, she wasn't even going to leave them, the Police said they aren't going to take it any further because she left her details she has not committed an offence, like leaving the screen of hit and run, but how can someone knock someone over and basically leave them for dead.

Well, im glad to hear that you lad is well and nothing serious. As much as i want to voice my opinion on women drivers, i wont. :bigmistake:

John i'm in no way defending the woman but shock can seriously make people do very stupid things.

THE most important thing is that your son is ok(ish). As for him asking about the parcels. I'd dock him his pocket money for not delivering them safely

The most important thing John is your son is OK, that is more important to you wife and you right now than anything else, I wish him well and will think of you both in my prayers. God Bless.

A bit of a shock John but thank goodness he is OK. I bet he never runs across a road again without looking, so maybe some good came of it. It just goes to show how easy it is to loose concentration for a second and forget what you are doing.

I think you should give him a pay rise though for his level of dedication to the family business.

He's always been the same why walk when you can run as fast as you can, I'm always telling him off for it, when my wife ran me I ran on to my bosses office and said Alex has been ran over I have to go, he said have you got any work left to do :dontknow: all heart

Shocking news John, but glad your son is okay and on the mend, get your son home and back in shape then go see a lawyer, what she did was a disgrace, and needs to be taught a lesson, a god damn hard one at that.

Oh my God John, just so glad he isn't hurt any more than he is. And what a credit to his Dad to think about the business under the circumstances. May seem silly and unimportant but kids caring that much for what they see as their duty is so rare these days, you have every right to be proud of him and thankful that it didn't turn out any worse than it did.

Pass on my best wishes as I am sure my pleasure in receiving parcels like the one I got this morning is partly due to him and I want him to know how much 'his' customers appreciate it and are thinking of him now.

That must have been terrifying for you, i'm glad that all's well, (as well as can be), incredible to believe that the driver wanted to leave the scene, especially not knowing the condition of the person hit.

Your boss sounds great, i've known plenty like that unfortunately, I think they're created in a lab environment with all empathy removed not born.

Your lad sounds like the pony express - come rain or shine (or being knocked over by a car) the post will get through. Very glad to hear he's ok.

It's amazing what some drivers think, I was knocked off my bike about 18 months ago - they wrecked my bike and the fall knocked me unconscious for a short while - they left the scene and nobody noted the plate - it'd been all the same to them if they'd killed me.

It does emphasise the fact that you should always be aware of traffic around you even if they're in the wrong.

Anyway, glad to hear he'll be up and about soon

Any parents nightmare , no matter how much we try to teach them about road safety kids will be kids , in one ear out the other , glad your lad is on the mend, wish him well from all the boys and girls on here,

as for the driver she should be nicked for leaving the scene , although she left her details who`s to say she had not had a drink , I think the police messed up big time on this

Thanks for all the well wishes, he's back home now, no sports for 3 weeks, that won't bother him he doesn't like PE anyway, but no computer games or fast moving films for a while, that's really going to bother him it's his birthday on Saturday and he's getting the new call of duty game for the xbox, he should be ok for an hour by then.

The Driver, be it man or woman has broken the law. Leaving the scene of an accident where personal injury is incurred is a punishable offence. As some one else pointed out, they could of been under the influence.

They could also of been speeding. One can assume that the road was in a built up area if it was out side the post office. 30mph if I recall. If you canr stop a car these days from 30mph it or you should not be on the road!!!

OK She could, as has also been pointed out been in shock. I can imagine that your wife had plenty of other things on her mind but some one there should of stopped them trying to drive off.

I'll put the lawer back in his box now and just say this. Your boss sounds a right arse.

Because the woman left her details (she wasn't going to until my wife asked) she hasn't broken any law, she has complied with it so the police have told us.
