Just wondered what others use to listen on and what they play whilst modelling.

My set up is a Topping E30 DAC, Kanto YU6 active speakers and a Yamaha powered Sub.
MP3's stored on my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S, too slow for much else these days.

Music is mainly rock so AC/DC, GnR, Bad Co, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Judas Priest, you get the idea
I have a particular liking for metal bands with female vocalists such as Nightwish, Delain, Evanescence and Within Temptation.
Just for a bit of variety Kraftwerk, Big Country, The Killers and Wishbone Ash get played too.

What do others play?

My iPhone blue-toothed to a UE Wonder-boom speaker. I just let it shuffle, so there's a lot of variation in the music I listen to. I don't listen to dance/trance or whatever you call it, or rap. I find those genres stressful to listen to, and that's not a good idea when modelling. I also listen to various podcasts.

Just use an Amazon Echo smart speaker. It takes up very little real estate in the room and is foolproof to use being voice activated. I listen to pretty much anything from talk radio (5 live), planet rock, classic FM, radio 6 music, folk mixes, blues (a particular favourite) mixes, through to individual bands depending upon my mood. Not a huge fan of more modern or electronic forms of music though, I prefer my musicians to play instruments rather than sample or manipulate synths.
The advantage of the Echo is I can change listening without having to stop what I’m doing and scrabble around finding something else. In this instance I’m only using the music as background noise anyway so the inevitable compromises of a small digital radio are not a problem. I have an extensive music collection and a decent system downstairs if I want to do serious listening, but that said, the echo sound quality is actually pretty good.

I tend to listen to podcasts rather than music when I’m modelling so listening through my iPhone is adequate.

Weirdly as I’ve gotten older I have gone off listening to music unless I’m seeing a band/ musician live 🤷‍♂️

Geoff.

All sorts!......metal to folk to blues to rockabilly to punk/new wave from the 80s

I also listen to the radio a lot......bbc sounds provide some great shows.....folk and blues shows.....love desert island discs.....some comedy shows

For me it's mostly Classic, Folk, or gentle music such as Enya, Clanaad, Mary Black or Eva Cassidy - that sort of thing.

I tend to not have music on. As I've got older I only really listen to music now when I'm in the car!
When modelling I sometimes have the radio on, but its usually Radio4 or a Radio talk show TBH.
My musical tastes are wide and varied, I will pretty much listen to anything as long as its good.
Although my era was the 1980's, (so Punk, R&B, Reggae, Soul, Dance music, etc) I quite like a lot of 70's and 60's stuff too.
Only music genre I tend not to listen to much is Country and Jazz, but anything else will do.

My wife & I are both long retired and she is going deaf & has the TV on LOUD every waking hour, so the basement man cave has a huge sound system from the 80s and a large eclectic collection of CDs that are blessedly silent whilst I moggle on.

My little modelling room is right above where I have the stereo in the sitting room and I have an amp with dual outputs with one set wired up through the ceiling to a pair of half decent speakers right behind me when I'm at the bench. The amp lets me choose either or both outputs so the wife can listen if she's sewing or not if she's got the telly on. I have quite a big vinyl and cd collection and the only downside is having to come downstairs to change the selection, though I guess it keeps me moving. This afternoon it's been the new Garbage album released last week and Lucia and the Best Boys 'Burning Castles' album.

if I'm in the shed with the airbrush it's usually the radio, but it's often a bit drowned out by the compressor and extractor.....

Another one for Alexa - but I listen to Football as much as music - but I have very eclectic taste in music - Heavy Metal, Alternative, Country Rock, anything really - unless I just get lazy and play Absolute Radio.
