Why I hate the World We Live in

A suggestion I read elsewhere is that these selfish idiots should be made to do litter picking or similar community service, the number of hours to be commensurate with the time the builders invested in these models. Sadly a mild telling off seems more likely.

Over here our club will insist on night security for our displays failing which volunteer members would spend the night watching over the displays. I remember volunteering and staying overnight at the local Airforce base even with security on detail. We were provided with campbeds and blankets.

Horrendous! Not sure how far money will go, my Dad builds trains as his hobby, and scratch built these recovery carriages (example picture), an unbelievable feat of modelling and engineering, and money would not replace them.

Four have been arrested at a school..

The four have since been released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries.

Probably told not to do it again.

Reported that one piece was worth £8000. But you cannot buy a heartache remedy.

How about giving the club members 20 minutes with the little (--------) games consoles / mobile phones to give them a tiny example of how the club feels

Community service & a lot of it. On the days they watch football etc.

Not sure it will get through but a talk to the club members they trashed
in front of the media with the parents present.

Plus restriction to their own homes after 6:00pm for a long period of time.

Gee I would be ashamed if any of my 4 kids did this. But then they would not
they were taught kindness & care of others in this world. They are in their 40s
& 50s now but they have passed this on to my 4 grandsons. Great lads.

Sir Rod Stewart has said he is “absolutely devastated” following the destruction of a model railway exhibition in Stamford.

The singer (74) a model railway enthusiast, has announced he is donating £10,000 after the show was completely trashed by vandals.

Just shows how this has really upset people.
John.
..

Just read on FB that people in the US are offering to build some models , and the money raised has topped £ 58,000.

What gets me is that must have took some serious effort and time to do that amount of destruction.
It just makes me sick.

Look at those grave stones that are vandalised overnight George, they too must take a lot of effort to uproot,it seems there is an element of mentally unstable sick people out there who like destroying other peoples property.

Well, I don't agree it's a dreadful world worth to hate we live in. It wasn't better in the past I reckon.
But this news was appalling indeed. As far as I understood they captured four brats probably responsable for it. I hope they will get some sort of punishment worth it.

I can only blame the parents and the situation the world is currently in.

Why blame the parents? Not everything is down to bad parenting! Some kids have issues that are nothing to do with their parent(s). I say that from personal experience

Perhaps, it could go either way...follow their parents behavior/character or be neglected with no guidance whichever is the lesser of two evils. If they are taught from young how to behave civicly knowing what is wrong or right and not to be influenced easily then perhaps issues may not occur. If a couple can spend the time to bring a child into this world then they better be prepared to parent them properly...know when to reprimand and explain when the kid misbehaves.
Of course there are some bad apples...there must be something that triggers these issues.

Without delving into my past on here in public all i am going to say it that i was brought up by fantastic parents who taught me the core values and right from wrong. And yeti went 'off the rails' (no pun intended) because i had issues and did some stupid things as a young teenager. I am not proud of what i did and i am not defending those kids that destroyed the exhibit. Just saying that whilst i condemn their action, i will not slate them as a whole. I have many skeletons to carry and i am dealing with the scares they leave behind. Maybe they have the same and need help and guidance from professionals.

I say again... i condemn their actions and the trauma it has caused.

And at this point i am out of this conversation. I feel i have made my point.

Sorry to hear about that Alan...I think some of us have been mischevious in our younger days but what happened to the exhibits is evil. Totally unacceptable.

The odd thing I cannot come to terms with.

4 boys 4 families. Do they all have issues ?
