Been otherwise occupied recently, not had anything on the modelling bench, but have now started my next little project.
A nice Tamiya figure in 1:16th scale, WW2 German Elite Infantryman with equipment.
Not many parts but has the usaul Tamiya nice details.
Box and sprue....

Made a start, main figure torso put together, then the legs, then the arms, with careful positioning of the arms (after adding the fingers) so that the MG is held correctly.....
Its now ready for priming....

It will need a very small amount of filler to a couple of seams, and some very light sanding as well, but seems to be a good fit so far.
There is a recess in the front torso, as the grenade sits there, behind the belt buckle, to be added later.

Interesting subject, not seen one of those before, will enjoy seeing how you tackle it

You do realise 'elite infantryman' means Waffen-SS....... They were the only ones that got the spotty camo uniforms if I remember rightly

Need some help, anyone know what colours (Tamiya) I should use for this camo pattern? .... see photo.
Its the M44 "Pea pattern", and mentions light brown and greenish brown, but is not specific?
The box art shows the pattern quite well, but annoyingly the two main pics (front of box and rear of box) are quite different shades!
I have most Tamiya colours (plus few others, Mr Hobby, Revell Aqueous, etc) and could probably get quite close just by guessing, but if anyone has an actual specific colour suggestion, that would be great, Cheers

Uniform colours are always a problem especially late on in the war when cloth and dyes were in shorter supply. Different manufacturers also compounded the issue. Not to mention the fading from wear and tear. I have just Googled M44 Erbsenmuster camo and clicked on images and it just got more confusing
I think you're right in that you will be fine 'just guessing'

Figure is looking good (y)

Cheers, yes I think I'll just have to wing it!

Front box art is very sorta warm orange, but I think thats just an "arty" pic. The top rear box pic is a far more faded look, then theres also a plain brown pic on the middle of the rear of the box, then lastly theres the lower rear box pic, shown above, and they are all different, Lol.

Made a start on painting, small bits were brush paint, but the main body and head were spray painted with the airbrush.

Also started on the head, and the dreaded eyes!, here's where I am, the eyes are not perfect but pretty happy with them TBH.

Bit more progress, started on the pea pattern camo scheme.
Was not sure about the original airbrushed base colour, a light sandy brown? but I mulled over it for a while , and as its seems to be hard to pin down an exact color scheme, I decided to just go for it. Whats the worst that can happen!

Added a dark green dot pattern first, I wanted the dots to be quite small, so I have used a micro brush (Albion Alloys), which seemed to work ok.

I then added a dark brown dot pattern and finally I added a very light / pale green dot pattern.
Paints used below, eg: XF26, XF10 and XF21.

I have also now painted up all the figures accessories, eg: grenade, bread bag, gas mask cannister, bayonet, MG, ammo pouches, belt buckle, water bottle, etc and highlighted a few small details. The head now has its helmet fitted. These will all be weathered up a bit later....

The camo pattern is still a bit loud/bright IMHO, but I will tone it down a bit with weathering, etc.
I have only put a light mist coat of flesh tone on the arms, they will need at least another coat, maybe two.

Figure now fully assembled and painting done. I will be adding a little highlighting to clothing creases later.
Then will be gloss coated, then weathered, then final matt coat, but getting there.
Still not sure about the eyes, still a bit too round, not almond shaped enough IMHO.....but I get to a stage where they are sort of ok and then I don't want to ruin them! Lol....
