Heres my under a fiver build , the zvezda Seige machines set which cost me £4 . Its totally out of my usual interest zone but just looked so mad i had to have it. Its very nicely tooled with lots of woodgrain effect to highlight. I was hoping that they could be made to operate but i dont think its possible , shame I was looking forward to firing cocktail stick arrows and catapulting dried pea boulders! Heres the pics cheers tonyimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Nice one. A great excuse for practicing wood grain effects ect.

I flogged together the No.1 set a while back. It says 1/72 but it's 28mm (1/56?) I'm informed they were intended for Zvezda's 'Ring of Rule' fantasy series

Got the first bits started , the three assault shields , which are basically like boards on wheels! I primed all the parts on the sprues with matt black and after detaching and cleaning up are getting a few coats of vallejo desert yellow. On top of this I will be using a highly thinned wash of vallejo woodgrain , which is a translucent dark brown . This should settle in the grain and give the effect im after plus darken the colour .Ive also assembled most of the parts for the catapult which have been painted too ready for assembling . Heres a few pics with a washed assault shield at the side of one that has just been painted and is awaiting the wash , cheers tony0D2F8D38-1A5E-4753-9670-8CB3E119C6BF.jpegC633E26D-F5CC-41FB-8AFD-C58B53975A08.jpeg4E7007A3-F239-422F-9CF6-AF2B7CF5CD84.jpeg

Hi Tony
Something completely new. Looks fun. Shame you can't fire your peas.

Tony.
Looks to have very clean mouldings on those frame sections. Grabbing a seat.

Well the assault shields and the catapult are done , i just want to add some thread to the winding mechanism , then these are finished . Next up is the ballista ( crossbow) which looks a bit more complicated but should still go together fairly quickly , cheers tony90D75BCB-9DD5-4208-8D4A-12CB9F09FBC8.jpeg1D6A58E0-3EB3-4DF9-B825-B1D75094790F.jpeg592911DE-5CFF-45C6-A9B3-E473BFC830C0.jpeg

Hi Tony,
I reckon that catapult could be made to fire your pea boulders relatively easily.

The thing that looks like curly pasta with a spoon handle stuck in it is meant to be the ‘spring’ and could be replaced with a couple of elastic bands

You would need to drill out the side frames so the band ends could push through and then modify the retainers with a slot to take a rod pushed through the band ends

Should be doable.......

Looking really great Tony. If you finish the catapult in time they could do with it at Winterfell Monday morning for the defence against the dead people :smiling3::smiling5:

Ballista has been assembled , bit more tricky than the catapult as the bottom frame had to be assembled after the main crossbow part as it pivots in this.
Anyhow heres the bits before assembly and after , complete with woodgrain wash . Cheers tony93433F90-324F-49BF-BC3F-B59BAFB7216A.jpeg3742C5CF-38EF-493F-98A1-FA28A6624418.jpegD43E44AA-9697-4C32-A82F-CE1850076BAD.jpegD6E7E66D-BE47-4778-B556-88E249E0A637.jpegB66AE1C0-8D71-4CE8-9681-EAA5B76EA17C.jpeg
