Postie just delivered these:

The 'O' Class has two models - shows how small the RN destroyers were compared to others.
I'm having to be careful about Japanese destroyers- the individual boxing of each named ship means that you can end up with duplicate identical models in the same class - only the names ( and boxart ) being different! The u-boat was added because it was cheap ( flat rate postage! )

Bit of a haul today, was working in Dublin and stopped off in a place I shouldn't really take my wallet into.




The BP Defiant has been on my radar for a while and is supposed to be good, even if the turret is a tight fit. And the Hurricane is supposed to be another excellent kit of a strangely under represented airframe.

Then I stopped at Argos on the way home to collect a few eBay purchases.

Some P-47 goodieness with a resin cockpit included.


And an F-111 to add to my expanding swing wing collection.

Then finally the chemist for some antibiotics in the hope of clearing this chest infection before it takes a proper hold.

I needed thinner plastic rod than I had for the Sd.Kfz. 251 I’m working on for the group build, and also French rifles to stow in it. Since the latter are very thin on the ground, I ended up having to buy this set of Tamiya early-war infantry, and decided to add a bottle of airbrush cleaner (might as well give that a try) and the canopy masks since I have the kit they’re for in the stash and they were all of €4.35.

The magazines were thrown in for free (as was a biro, not pictured ), though I already have that issue of De Tank because I’ve been a member of the Dutch Armour Association, whose club magazine it is, since 1987

I'm sure i've seen a film called 'jugs over Italy' many years ago... I seem to remember it didn't have many planes in it though...lolz

Are you sure you're not stalking me?!!.... about a fortnight ago I bought both of these kits within days of each other !

Having no intrest in climbing up to the dining table for ages now my intrest was given a nudge by daves half track gb so started to mooch about on the Internet looking for a suitable subject ,well you know how easy it is to get distracted especially after looking at reams and reams of German and American subjects and if I'm honest nothing that makes you think I've got to get me one of them ,so before you get bored and side tracked I came across this at just over 20squids to much of a bargain to miss and if its as good as their little Italian ac all well and good

Nicely boxed ,instruction manual printed on posh waxy paper ,only four sprues so hardly going to get boring if and when. I know jumbo stuffs not my bag but I do dabble occasionally photographic edevence available on request.
The groupe build (if they will have me) came down to Polish or russian both under a tenner the Polish subjects were very basic kits so went russian with a PST kit ,their rubbish probably a badly fitting box of twisted flash covered plastic but worth the effort ,will show when postie delivers. Dave

A packet from postie - not a real surprise - but read on.................
In my hunt for 1/700 warships, I looked at several Japanese sites - particularly HobbySearch - their on-site price was pretty good, but the air shipping costs made them expensive - unless I chose surface mail. To dip my toe in the water, I ordered a small destroyer. I placed the order on 22nd June & it was delivered today 15th September, so a week shy of 3 months.

The total delivered price was £11 - which is pretty good!
I've never seen a Yamashita Hobby Model before, and it's not like Tamiya/Fujimi/Aoshima 1/700, but more like the Flyhawk models. Very delicate mouldings & multiple sprues - first impressions are very good.
If you're not in a hurry, then surface mail may be an option. There are certain models that only appear on Japanese sites and are very tempting, but the air shipping costs push them way up, so I may be doing some long-term shopping - for around Christmas!
