I went to my parents' and enjoyed a very nice couple of weeks with them in the fresh air of the western alps while SWMBO was sweating everything she could at home; and no, I'm not that cruel: dad and mom needed some care as they are now 90 and 87 years old respectively. Now I left the job to my sister coming from LA and on my way home, while I was simmering in my car (with an external temperature of 38 °C and under a blazing sun for more than 6 hrs no air conditioning system can make you feel really comfortable) I realized I was very near to the model shop from which I usually buy online. Made a short detour (15') and got those consumables:

I strongly resisted the temptation of many kit boxes luring at me from the long and densely packed shelves. Should the store had been climatized, probably I would have given up while enjoying the fresh climate, but it was as hot and damp as outside, so I left as soon as I found all I was looking for (TBH, panel liner, the wash and the large bottle of thinner were not in the list, but I'm weak:flushed.
Moreover, I got from my sister's archive (she has a university degree in Architecture) those old letrasets sheets

I'm not sure if they will be of some use or not in modelling after 35 years in a garage, but... why not giving them a second chance! :nerd:

Wow….haven’t seen letraset for years…..if they don’t rub down they may be no good. On the other hand, rub down transfers are apparently able to be reactivated using methylated spirits, just like methfix transfers (once the preferred weapon of railway modeller), so if they don’t work it might be worth a try….

Thats why I stopped using my flight sim on a PC. If you install all the maps to make a flight realistic you - jump - across - the - sky - like - a - dyslexic - duck. ( But I do miss my X-Plane flight sim!!!)

                      Brief history.

She was steaming within 50 miles of the Japanese mainland during WW2. Her flight and hanger decks were loaded with aircraft bombed up and ready for raids on mainland targets.

Out of the clouds and undetected came a lone Japanese bomber. It dropped two A.P. 500Ib bombs. Both hit aft square on the flight deck and penetrated into the interior. The aircraft on the flight deck all caught fire and their ordinance exploded. All the aircraft were destroyed. The same happened on the hanger deck. The ship was a raging inferno.
Nearly 800 souls lost their lives along with almost 300 badly injured. making this the second largest loss of life in U.S Navy History. The highest being the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbour (1200 died)

For two days the crew battled to save the ship - and succeeded. The crew said later "If a ship won't sink, she can't be sunk!"
The full story is well worth reading.

So I sez to meeself. That would make a great subject for a diorama........

                      Cheers.

Picked this old relic from a friend for RM50 equivalent to a tenner in your currency. Will try to bring it up to present standards for our Independence day GB. I think the ones used here were camouflaged and tail planes were different.

I've bought this for Pete's up and coming G.B. It says it's a general all purpose/ personnel carrier, so I hope it'll do.??

Also, I wanted summat to have a bash at a 1/72 digital camo on. The kit supplies all of them as decals, but I want to try and brush them on.
