    Hi all

So a couple more arrivals this week.......

    ATB

    Andrew

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

By all accounts, these are THE best 1/72 Hurricanes on the block....this popped up for a reasonable (if not cheap) buy now price, so I had to take the plunge!

I've been thinking of getting a Lysander for while but the Eduard 1/48 ones are like hen's teeth and go for SILLY prices when they do come up. So I had a flash of inspiration and checked out 1/72 and these are apparently the best at the scale. Considering they come with some PE and canopy masks, I think they're not bad value for money.

            Hi John

I have placed 16 orders with the store over the years and only got bitten once, and that was because some numpty in the UK couldn't read!

According to the UK government site (link), the rule is that if the goods cost less than £135, you can pay VAT in the country of origin (assuming that is an option) and incur no charges on arrival in the UK.

All of my orders except one have been below that when VAT was included. The Polish store in question will NOT let you pay VAT if the order is over that amount, so you have to pay VAT +£12 admin fee on arrival in the UK.

However, with the order with all kits from a couple of weeks ago, whilst the the goods were below £135, the VAT at source took it over £135 and some numpty here in the UK assumed that was the VAT exclusive figure. I should therefore not have been charged VAT on import as a result but I was. I do plan to try to get it back, not that I hold out much hope.

The most recent order, the one you refer to and which came after the one I was charged for, was just below £135 including VAT and again I had no problems.

So if I ever have to place such a big order again, which I very much doubt, I will ensure that the price including VAT is below £135 just to be on the safe side.

Given that the Polish stores P&P to the UK is a very reasonable £3.50ish, it's still cheaper to split very large orders up and pay the two lots of P&P rather than the VAT + £12 admin fee upon arrival in the UK.

            Hope that helps!

            Yours

            Andrew

I have actually built this kit before but as part of a Dogfight Doubles and not a stand alone kit......at least that's my excuse.....

How are the withdrawl classes going, still getting the shakes in the middle of the night, hearing the stugs calling you from afar, sweaty armpits as you pass the models for sale sections.....

Dave, remember those days before c/a, when all that was available was Araldite for sticking together these kits....

Actually....no, for once.....I was genuinely going there for the loaf!! :smiling3:

I knew about the sale beforehand and had actually decided to give it a miss but then changed my mind...that said it's only a 5 minute walk so I have no excuse not to go when these sales are on! :smiling5:

Andrew I'm beginning to think you have shares in Airfix or Lidi

Same here, it seems to be a UK thing.

Got an Amazon voucher for filling out a survey so went looking for something cheap with plenty of bits.
                                £19.01 delivered!
Built a different version of the Miniart T-60 kit a while back and enjoyed it so looking forward to building this. Click image for larger version
