thumbnail_IMG_0688.jpg thumbnail_IMG_0689.jpg Last made a model when I was a kid and loving the hobby again 47 years later. 1st attempt but posting before decals as I have a feeling of dread that it's all gonna go downhill from here. Happy for a critique, hints or tips. I broke off and reattached the undercarriage yesterday as managed to glue it on the wrong way and she looked like a bandy old seadog with no way rolling down any runways LOL. The gloss varnish coat is definitely orange peely and so really nervous if the decals will bed down or not and if they don't, how do you remove them after drying?

First model in 47 years - looks fine to me. Decals are always a worry , partly as they come towards the end of the build and we get frightened of a right royal c***-*p after all that work.

Thanks for the advice on the setting solution - I was going to do them yesterday and today and I've now delayed until tomorrow.......think I might be putting off the inevitable!

Just try it bud, Airfix transfer are pretty good. Best to moisten the surface of the model with clean water before putting the transfers on, it will help them slide around.

Looks fine to me too Dave. All good advice from the guys. Roll a cutie over the decal once it has settled to iron out any liquid or bubbles trapped underneath it. If there are any stubborn bubbles left just prick with a sharp blade and repeat the cutip process after another drop of setting solution.

Cheers,

Just check on you tube on how to use decal solution Micro Sol and Micro Set. It really takes the pain out of decals believe me. Just make sure you are applying onto a gloss surface never onto matt. If the decal isnt quite in the right place just get plenty of fluid under it and you wlil be able to move it into position.

Well, your build looks great, and there's loads of good advice re-decals from the chaps above.

Looks great to me, it's certainly better than my effort on the same kit which was the first I'd done for years earlier this year! The edging on the wings is great.

Agree with the others on the decal solution, really makes all the difference.
