Hi, continuation of the build. I made a boo boo by drilling out the Astrodome hole then finding out the version I was doing doesn't have one. A little strip and putty will fix that...

Then I painted detail to the cockpit seats...
IMG_20251025_181709.jpg IMG_20251025_184854.jpg
And weathered the seatbelts.
Next I glued the fuselage halves...

And sanded down the joints.
More later...

Hi Guys, more work on the Hudson...

1000167310.jpg 1000167316.jpg
Painted up the IP and stuck it in...

1000167312.jpg
Sanded down the turret fairing assembly...some dinks and gaps need puttying.

1000167314.jpg
Got the wing halves cemented and used tape to hold them together at the leading edge to align and not have a step...saves sanding and cleaning up.

Hate assembling the wings with the undercarriage pre attached as you need to guess the alignment and dehydral to get it to look right.

The engine nacelles were a bitch to fit with no locating pins or marks so I winged it. I did saw the nacele flaps as the engraved lines were too soft. This kit is tuff...heard it's not an original Italeri kit but a rebox of another brand.

Good progress. Everything is looking very good. The hole you drilled but shouldn't have - even a modeller of you calibre make mistakes. Makes us lesser mortals feel better 😄

Well it might be a bit of a struggle, but it's certainly getting there. Well done Richard.

Thanks Richard, Jim, Joe and Nick...apologise for the late reply. It's taking shape even with struggles and mistakes. This makes building fun and challenging at the same time.

More progress...

This time its putty filling. I use Magic Sculpt two part putty for this process.

This putty helps with huge steps filling for misaligned fuselage halves. Doesn't shrink either.

Next up is sanding so I left it to cure within the hour.

Happy new year Wabble. Nice work, a question if I may what filler do you use?

Happy New Year to you too Paul, I use Magic Sculpt which is not the usual plastic putty that everyone uses because I hate the shrinkage that happens and will need constant application and sanding. Two part putty like Magic Sculpt doesn't shrink and smoothens with water. Latest trick is using TET with a soft brush to blend the edges... compliments of Calvin Tan. Works best on figure joints...for planes I prefer sanding.

Making progress. Interesting ideas for filler. I agree that when fillers shrink and need another filling it's just so time consumming,

And me being so slow I need quick fixes to move on.😂

Therapeutic sanding... tralalalala...

Looks like a lot of detail needs repairing after the sanding process.

1000179226.jpg 1000179227.jpg
Lots of gunk collecting in the crevices and what nots...

1000179228.jpg 1000179229.jpg
That's all for now...the transparencies need attention next having not fitted flush and leaving horrendous gaps to be filled.

Cheers,

Looking good Richard. Good to see you posting again. I seem to have completely missed this….or my memory is shot….not sure which 😁. Anyway, interesting use of magic sculpt. Only ever seen that used with figures before. I have some I have never used, but assume it’s a bit like milliput?
