Got the decals applied, still settling under softener. I need to paint the gun patches as the decals are not ideal. Then I will paint the exhausts. After some weathering and a flat varnish, the fuselage dome light and mirror will be painted. Thankfully this Spitfire did not have an antenna wire fitted so that's one less thing to worry about.

That is looking gorgeous Joe. I had a problem with the gun patch decals on my build and ended up gluing them on with PVA. I wanted to use them because they sit slightly proud of the wing skin, a bit like the actual material that they used in the day. Looking forward to your finished photos.

Looking great with the decals on Joe, the end in sight :coffee:
Cheers Steven, nearly there

Thanks Steve. I think in 1/48 or smaller, painting the patches is going to be sufficient. Certainly in 1/32 slightly raised patches would be the way to go.
No sign of the paint troubles now joe , looking mighty fine
Cheers Tony.

The decals were superb, very little excess film on any of them; even the squadron codes were designed so there was no backing film showing. Will check on it soon, and press on.

The decals have all settled very nicely into the recesses and are wrinkle free. Gun port patches are going on.
