Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Finished my little Mazda Micro car. so a space in my stash of six opened up again.
Went for this VW T1 bus, we actually had one of these when I was a youngster and in that colour too.
Can't remember lots about it, but recall the side opening hinged doors and the reg was BP with four numbers
It wasn't new or in very good nick and was vastly underpowered with its 1200cc air cooled engine.
We also had a Bedford CA bus, can't find a kit for one of those though.

That looks fun, Rich. There is a resin 1/24 Bedford CA van, bit pricey though.
Thanks Joe, can't say I am that keen for the price.
Talking of cost, I recall those VW parts being very expensive.
Had to go a couple of times when Dad was at work to pick up bits from a VW dealer at Plaistow

That's a nice kit, although different to most vehicle kits as the body is in separate parts, rather than the more usual complete shell.

Not modelling related, but very much a new acquisition. Here is Frodo. He was found thrown away in a bin when he was a couple of hours old. He was brought in to the vets practice where my daughter works in a very poor state. His sister never survived the night. Alice took him on and hand reared him, feeding every three hours for the first few weeks. He is now weaned and has come home to the shire for his forever home. He now looks like this….

Thank alice from me too Tim , Frodo is one lucky cat . Its madness to think people can do stuff like this but it turned out good in the end . He looks like hes going to keep you on your toes for a bit but hes going to be a beautiful cat !

Couple of Ebay acquisitions - the Barracuda is an aircraft Ive long wanted to do just because its so weird looking but after doing the figure of Maureen Dunlop , even more so ( the aircraft she had just delivered when the photo was taken was a Barracuda ) IMG_7500.webpIMG_7501.webp
The other one is the Mania kit of the nakajima ki 51 Sonia attack aircraft . The Mania kits are long out of production but were considered very good . This is a double boxing with two full kits and two lots of decals for different versions , the japanese instructions might be a bit tricky though ! Nice kits Tony, for the Japanese instructions;

-Change the [red arrow] to "Japanese"
-Change the [blue arrow] to "English"
-Hit the [green arrow] 'camera button'
-Move your camera over the Jap.text
-It wil in realtime show you the translation

Thanks Tony. Frodo is thriving now, rapidly turning into a teenager that is all legs, teeth, and attitude….once he finishes teething, and loses his kittenmakers he’ll calm down I’m sure. I’ll pass on your regards to Alice as well. She needs the lift. Currently she’s in hospital with a bad gall stone issue and has been on morphine for five days to control the pain. Unbelievably the hospital is looking to discharge her and put her on a list for elective surgery. On top of the other issues she has with both her mental and physical health it’s just unbelievable. The worst thing is that we can’t help as I can’t travel or subsist on my own due to my operation. I know this isn’t the place for it, but right now I’m furious….

My wife had serious gall stone issues, got rushed to hospital after calling 999. At the time I was piloting a cabin cruiser we had just bought back down the Regents Canal to St Pancras Marina.
She developed pancreatitis and was in hospital for a fortnight.
When the infection cleared her gallbladder was removed by keyhole surgery, and home the same day.
Been fine the past twenty something years since so sure your daughter will be ok.
When my wife got diagnosed with Breast Cancer I got very angry with the world. Didn't help anyone so try to think positively and work out ways you can help when you are both on the mend.
My poor missus hasn't been very lucky, latest thing was her hip fracture and repair last September.
Just had her fourth yearly check for Cancer and all clear so its not all bad. :)
