Simon T - a very sad announcement

Oh no that is truly very very sad to hear. What a terrible loss to his family, friends and to our modeling community. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family. So sad

As I stated in an earlier post, He was my best "critic". I could always count on him to point out that little bit of missing extra detail that would generally put the finishing touch on my latest effort. He had a wry sense of humor and he will be sorely missed........condolences and well wishes to friends and family. Simon, may the force be with you and God rest your soul.
Rick H.

One thing which sums Simon's kindness

I messaged him about how on earth do i make the frame used on the back of a StuG to hold stuff.

What seemed like minutes a CAD plan arrrived with fool proof instructions ( i sure needed them) i tried to pay but no, all i could offer was to bore him with StuG stuff. Very sadly i cannot do that now

I first came across Mr T on the old MM forum he was a great inspiration to me and many others, his scratch building skills and attention to detail were second to none, I for one learnt an awful lot from him and will be forever grateful, I had the privilege to have met him a couple of years ago true friend.
RIP Simon you will be missed.
Pete.:sad-face:

Such sad news.Used to love his work on golden oldie kits like the Tamiya su.122 and T.62.Deepest condolences to his loved ones.We must look out for each other and he will be missed.RIP fella.

Sorry to read this :( Great skill, and I’ve long wondered how he could manage to both have so many models on the go at once and seem to finish some of them :)

Does anyone know what age he was, BTW? He didn’t give me the impression he was very old, so I’m wondering now …

Just saw the post over on fb and it was such a shock. We have certainly lost a shining light from our modelling family
RIP Mr T . Deepest condolences to Simon’s family.

Truly terrible news. I had no idea he was that young! Will treasure his Advice, so full of knowledge, along with as much modesty as anyone could muster!

Sad news, deepest condolences to his family and all his friends.

He will be sorely missed by all.

Rest in peace.

This is news I wasn't realistically preparing for. I was hoping for another widening of 2mm to a Tamiya old kit to pop out in the next post but it's sad it will never happen. I'm gonna miss Simon. This maestro of scratch building didn't even need a table...we often saw his "laptop"

I first noticed Simon when he was attempting to scratchbuild a huge M551 Super Sherman back in old milmod days...never got to finish it due to slightly off scaled road wheels. It was a mammoth task anyway and glad he came to his senses and got back to regular scales. No doubt he made jems out of his new or old kits and I marveled at his tenacity to re-do at least 90% of the original kit. He had a really good sense of wry humour and we often rib him on when he would ever finish a GB kit. We never took offense if he pointed out our mistakes as we hurriedly try to fix it knowing he was right. He too could take advise from us willingly and graciously...a true modeler aspiring to improve.
By now we should have known his blood type...even Michelangelo would pale at the amount of blood Simon has spewed onto kits from his trusty blade for the sake of modeling art.

Simon will be missed and on the 15th of October I will sit at my workbench in silence as a mark of respect to a fine fellow modelers passing and remembrance.

Richard

Oh my word, I don't know what to say.

Simon was so very helpful to me 'behind the scenes', as I guess he was for others.

Very, very sad news. My thoughts are with his family. Rest in piece Simon.

I had a notion a minute or two ago.Would the gang consider a little build in Simons memory?,Maybe older kits that we can dress up as much or least as the individual likes. Some classic Tamiyas spring to mind.Or am i lapsing into the realms of fantasy with Corporal Jones.
Rich.

Great memory Richard. It was an epic project. What he produced was nothing short of miraculous. Indeed the king of scratch building.
