Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2020)

You're most welcome anytime Peter. I'm Glad you finally got them. I was beginning to worry that they got lost in the post somewhere on the Insel. Have fun with fishface too!!!

Prost
Allen

Once again I've been the the recipient of another kind act of generosity from a site member. Stand up Mr Allen Dewire of Bamberg, Germany.

Allen said that he'd never get around to doing these and would I like them? Of course I bit his hand off! Really interesting pieces and the fish-man will take me into uncharted territory - no bad thing.

Many, many thanks to Allen.

The fish man bust looks very nice

Allen - The post here has been incredibly slow lately, but the parcel arrived safely today. Many thanks again.

Steve - Hmmmm. How to you paint a fish man? Some thought required.

Check out movie trailers from "The Shape of Water" for colors found on fishmen. Mostly greens I think. PaulE

On the other hand, just look at various fish images and steal the colour scheme you like best....blue and silver could be good.....

Cheers chaps. I was also thinking of nail varnish to get the iridescence. Could work.

I think its supposed to be Abe , from the first Hellboy film , you could always google image search that or just find the whole film on youtube , great watch actually . Cheers tony

Hi Peter
There are several makes of iridescent paint on the market.....look at the craft ranges, for example. Windsor and a Newton also make an iridescent medium.

Trying to explain to my son last night what iridescent meany as the animators in a film about a spy turned into a pigeon added the effect to the pigeons plumage.

I’ve wanted this conversion kit for thirty years, but couldn’t afford it back then. When I could, it was long out of production, but I’ve now managed to find one second-hand :)

I remember looking through the Verlinden stuff and just dreaming about it, now I can afford it I've bought suprisingly little. (That and it can be hard to get and prices are overinflated.)

Verlinden’s early stuff is quite good, but everything they made in the last 20 years or so (before the company threw in the towel, anyway) is a bit suspect in terms of quality, IMHO. If it says “Made in Belgium” on the box, it’s probably worth buying. If it says “Made in USA” you may want to think twice, if you ask me :) (At least long enough to figure out whether it’s a re-issue from when they were still based in Belgium :))

Another addition to my stash. My stash of hetzer variants for my on/off (mostly off) project of building all variants of the Hetzer. don't know when I will get around to it but I got it at a reasonable discount so could not miss it.

Nice one Jakko.I remember Mr.V doing a build of it in one of his Showcase books. The Belgian produced stuff was better stuff i agree.Im after the m48/60 update but silly prices on e.bay.

I still have parts of that left, having used a fair amount of the set to update some kits 20+ years ago :)

The Mail Man dropped these of earlier this week. I might build the 6 pounder to be either hauled or towed by the Bedford for the Simon GB
