Latest Acquisitions (2020)

Busy day today, posted one parcel and took delivery of two.

Having had a peek in the box it looks like it will live up to the makers name and keep me amused for a while.
Now the other one is a bit of a strange purchase for me, after giving up building and flying r/c aircraft I reckoned I was done with wingy things, after buying a small brewster kit just to be sure, and then giving it away I thought that was it.
And then this came along.

Exactly why I bought it is still under discussion with myself, is it because it is large, or complex, or a very reasonable price? Answers on a £10 note to me c/o Indecision Towers, Scotland.

Hey Gents,

I'm nobody, but I think we should get this thread back on track before we get the Mods upset.............

Well i broke my no kit rule tonight. I was doing so well too. But it's just one of those moments when you follow something on evilbay for a while, watching the user dropping the price each and every time they relist it. Well it got to a price that i thought that no-one else would be able to resist it. I opened the bidding and to my very happy surprise, no-one else joined in. So to that end i won with one bid! Happy?! No...... right royally chuffed to bits is what i am. Even the SWMBO gave a little smile when i told her the true value of what i'd won. What is this super kit that i won?.....

1/32 Revell Fw190 F8

Nothing special i hear you cry. Well....

It comes with;

Eduard PE Seatbelts
Eduard PE Interior
Eduard PE Landing flaps
Eduard Canopy masks
Brassin MG131 mounts
Brassin Wheels
Brassin Props
Brassin Cockpit
Brassin Undercarriage
HGW Seatbelts x 2

I got all this for just over the asking price of the Revell kit on its own brand new. So a saving of about 130 quid :)

Cheers Bob. Yes i know it's yet another Fw190 but. This is set for a diorama. I've just got to do that when all these bits are there to show off detail.

I'll have you know I won the Outer Mongolian Goat stew, with fresh herbs and sheeps eyes. :flushed:
And I was thinking of buying Goats this year hope you don’t decide to skip over the pond and visit me with that kind of diet

Here’s some more “Eye Candy” for you nostalgic enthusiast I got over the Weekend. I may be in a league of my own with these 3291270D-8BED-434A-954D-BB881F9E1F9B.jpeg2817F253-9707-4753-856D-21A8762FDA37.jpeg40E9658F-CEE8-462E-8C35-7C2AE97101AC.jpeg5F766A3A-CE1D-48C2-9A16-7F2C0C510AB5.jpeg

Here are the latest arrivals from evilbay.......all obsolete mfg. by Brekina in w. Berlin. The Wanderer is a "Rare" bird (1st to left) as well as the DKW F7 cabrio (last Right). Soon to be introduced to the Wehrmacht as conscripted vehicles. Rick H.P1011523.JPG

Here’s some more “Eye Candy”
Blenheim Mk IV, Refuelling Set & Hudson - they really do bring back memories!! :tongue-out3:
These were some of the first kits I built, think I was about 6 or 7 at the time.
Used to get my "pocket" money and straight down to "Woolies" on a Saturday morning :thumb2::thumb2:

Paul.
:smiling:

So neither of these is particularly spectacular in and of themselves but again firsts for me.

Now I'm doing more wingy things I thought I'd invest in some floor varnish for the canopies plus I know it can be used as a pre-decal coat - it apparently works the same was as the original Future/Klear or whatever else is known as. All I've got to do is to check how to use it through the AB......

Decided to invest in some IPA to give the models a pre-primer wipe down. Quicker than soap and water and no risk of residue left behind. Managed to get this in on the domestic budget, rather than the modelling one, as I'm also using it to thin out the rather gloopy hand wash the kids have to take to school. :smiling:

Hi Andrew
Another use for Klear is to gloss varnish gaming miniatures prior to final Matt varnishing. It is hard wearing so protects the paint if the (rather soft) Matt varnish gets worn off during handling in games. Basically, if your figures start going shiny after a while, you can just Matt varnish them again. Without the klear coat the paint will wear away with the Matt varnish, leading to a repaint.

Thanks Tim. Will bear that in mind. Had seen a reference to it a couple of times without explaining why.
