Bit of a take on metal machine music by Lou Reed then……
Dave, you were floating in one which had its own sounds I guess which could have been music to some but creaking and clanging to others.I got introduced to a very wide range of music in the Merchant Navy. This was in the days before the internet, videos, and CDs!. The only individual music entertainment was the cassette ( Records & rolling ships don't work ). Usually there was a pretty high end system in the bar, and with a wide range of ages & backgrounds of the officers, we were introduced to everything from classical, jazz, folk, rock'n'roll, musicals, opera, to progressive. It was etiquette to listen to other peoples' music, and for others to listen to yours ( although not without comment! ). Oddly enough,I can't remember any Heavy Metal................

Cheers,

As a help Dave I can give you an hour long recording of the noise of the building site next door.As a follow up to the above - I had great difficulty in sleeping when I came home on leave - it was too quiet!!
For the first week or so, I'd have to have the radio on, turned down low, to give a bit of background noise!
Dave
Phew and there I was thinking you were younger than me John. While I do have music on as I have said normally I work with out. Can't stand the drivel from the radio, by this I mean the presenter and adverts if on commercial. Most of my collection is on vinal and I would be loath to have it set up in the cave, and much prefer the sound from a record to a cd.
We are showing our ages - a lot of 1970's stuff. i hold my hands up and agree - I mostly listen to 70's and 80's, the last being Rick Wakeman' Journey to the Centre of the Earth,
Have you tried John Cage? 4'33 would be right up your street. :nerd:Just silence interrupted by swearing, If I listen to anything it would be JJ CALE .
