Airfix 1/72 Mosquito New Tooling

Russell, you've got me wanting to get one. I remember building the older mold and it was good. I think kit designers payed more attention when it was a Mossie.:smiling2:
Nice to see this come together very well. There's nothing wrong with your eyes. War paint and pre-shading...nice.

Cheers,
Richard

Go for it! Really fun little kit!

More models!
I spent Saturday night finalising my wish list and pricing it up..... The kits range from cheap multi box wargaming offerings by the Plastic Soldier Company right up to an AFV Club Churchill.....14 kits in total.... Plus some figures..... I'm sitting looking at the list going is a lot of money......

Hi Russell
Just had a catch up. What a great, well thought out kit. Your progress really does it justice. That is a lovely paint job.

Some more work on the mossie. Very pleased with the payload work. Went for some dappling to create a cast look to the bombs and it came out great. 088084FB-29E6-4467-8892-BE71472CD941.jpeg5C14DA52-8374-48EF-BA44-43313F423F0E.jpeg17FD23E5-2663-4018-BE43-30E61238D43C.jpeg

Coming on excellent is this one. Great finish on the bomb load. Really looks like cast metal.

That looks good. I like the panels that don’t fit the camouflage, too.

Morning Russell,

She is coming on beautifully and it's not helping my urge not to buy one!!

How did you do the dappling? Just stippled the paint or something else?

ATB.

Andrew, I stippled the bombs with glue using the thicker tamiya glue and let it dry. Then, sand it back to the desired effect, paint and then wash with green/brown. I must engage brain more though. A) I should have painted the yellow lines or b) at least measured the distance so all the lines were in the same place! But with the bomb bay doors on and spending most of its life on its wheels it won’t matter too much. Still, every model I learn something new to try and remember for next time. Touch of weathering today.

Of course!!! Have used that technique more than once myself.......doh!!!

As you say I wouldn't worry about the stripes, they're not off by much, you won't see them and I'm sure there was a bit of room for error in the factories...

Again, very well done indeed.

ATB
