discussion Best slow drying CA??

Afternoon

I have been using Ammo slow CA according to it, sets in 10-20 secs, however seems to set quicker. Had no wiggle room at all!

What slow dry CA do you use??

BUT Bob m8ty why do you keep getting disaters ? as ive told you you are a very good moddeler but with no confidence you must have confidence as you worked on truck engines an such so dont put your self down

Have you tried using five minute epoxy with PE that might need adjustment Bob? It’s usually good to have more than one tool in your armoury….

I use a CA gel. That seems to give me plenty of time to get things in position

Like Tim I sometimes resort to 5 min epoxy. I buy little tubes quite cheaply. Only downside is that it is difficult to mix a tiny amount accurately - 50:50, so I waste quite a lot. With it being only 5 min you can't do a lot before the stuff goes off.

I tend to plan a few joints at a time to minimise waste Jim. Blue tack holds things in place while it dries. I do find it indispensable for the larger joints, sometimes perversely holding them in place with dots of cyano while the epoxy goes off……

I have some thin CA from robbe that takes freaking ages to stick. Unless in the wrong place, then it cures immediately.

Thats why I prefer CA that sticks immediately. The longer you hold onto the part the more your hand will shake so either have blu tac or some kind of attachment to hold the part in place before applying glue.
