Evening all

Finally emptied the garage, filled a skip. My god WHERE does all that cr*p come from?? Still a bit of a tip lol

Marked out a rough chalk outline on the floor and await Malcolm the builder to start Monday

The plan is to build a insulated room, about 150 cm out from the wall, complete with a see through roof, so no more insects, spider's, dust etc!!

The booths will sit on a worktop set at a right angle to the window on the left hand side, so the light through the window will come into the area over my shoulder, the worktop will also run infront of the window and run a bit further.

Thats gonna be awesome once done Bob. So much better than the cold and damp shed. Keep us updated my friend

Sooooo jealous!! Just waiting for my daughter to head off to Uni - another two years!!

Nice project Bob. Just out of interest, why not go straight across the width of the garage from the brick support to the right of the window? You would end up with more space for a less complicated build (one wall plus door, no corners). The remaining garage space would be more useable as well because you wouldn’t be trying to manoeuvre the garden kit past your model space?

Exciting project Bob. Hope it all goes well. It will make a lot of difference to your bench time.

Looks good Bob. If you haven't already planned, I suggest painting the walls a light colour (masonry paint is best) and paint the floor - I used Wicked Garage Floor Paint when I moved in here 29 years ago, and it's still looking pretty good. Edit: They don't sell their own brand any more! Screfix do though: https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-satin-grey-trade-floor-paint-2-5ltr/74591
is there a ceiling in the garage, or planned to be? What about insulation?

Too true Steve, hated trying to paint when I spent most of the time fighting off the insects, dust and cold lol. Should be nice and warm on the cold but maybe a bit warm in the summer.

Not too sure about that lol

Hi Tim, did think about that, but there's a up an over door behind the photos so no good

Also having a door fitted at the back, can then lock the up an over door from inside as well. Jury's still out on weather I will do everything in the room or just painting, odds are with just painting

Hi Pete

He is insulating the new walls, with a clear roof to let extra light in as well as the window, will have to sweep off the cr*p off it every now and then!

Will paint the walls and the floor, do have a mat to go on the floor and a office chair along with new shelves

He's caught me on the hop, he's very busy so he was planning to start end of August!

The hardest part to insulate is likely to be the door.

At least I can keep the up an over closed, use to keep open to let the light in. Will have to sort out new sockets and lighting positions as well.

Builders made a start, frame work in place and roof, decided against a clear roof as the benefits compared to extra cost did not make sense. Next is plywood walls with insulation. Have decided with the builders advice and not forgetting Tim's to go across the garage, with enough space between the wall and up an over door to store lawn mower, garden tools etc

Below will be the spraying area, a worktop is being fitted in front of the window and along most of the wall to the left.

Above is the corner with the door on the left hand wall.

That'll make for a nice place to hide up Bob!

Nick.

That'll be a good space when it's done. Don't forget and reverse the car in lol.
Now my kids are growing up and dont stay over much nowadays I've got a good size room lined up :smiling2: just gotta sych myself up for the big clearout :confounded:

Off to a good start Bob and should be nice your for needs. Are you gonna put in a bathtub to test the buoyancy of all the float thingies you have in the stash???...Just wondering........

Hi Bob
A very nice modelling space in the making. Good progress already so shouldn't take too long. Make sure you have enough electric sockets.

More done, but it's stopped for a while, both the builder and electrician are now on holiday, bugger.

The sockets need to be moved off the wall and extra sockets fitted as well. there's a worktop going across the front of the window and along most of the wall to the left, will be plenty of room for the booths and to eventually do a 1/200 ship

The hole above is just to allow easy access, will be sealed

Next up is to be a door in the left hand wall. The photo is taken through the new model room door
