Work has me travel a bit and stay in hotels, so far I've figured out I can take limited stuff to attack with the hairy sticks, usually primed and assembled wargames figures.
Any one else hobby and travel?

I’ve prepped and assembled plastic and metal wargames figures and plastic kit parts while on holiday, using files, scalpels and Emery paper, but never taken paint and brushes with me. More power to your elbow……

You have better self control than me Karl .......
...... By the time I've worked my way through the mini bar I'm in no fit state to assemble/paint anything!! ;)

30+ years ago, I used to go on holiday with my parents in a camper van. I always took basic modelling tools and a kit to build with me (and usually bought at least one that I found over in foreign lands but had never seen back home).

I used to travel with work but unfortunately wasn't a modeller then. I can appreciate how it keeps you occupied and busy and out of the bar. Some nights away with work in a hotel were so long and dull with limited things to do.

I did most of an OU degree while covering the UK as a sales engineer. Room to myself, no distractions, ideal for writing essays or studying textbooks.

Good man! I did a fair chunk of mine on night shifts monitoring fermenter growth conditions at work.

I usually take sone sculpting stuff - usually a few tools and some putty to work on s head or two. Tina takes some sewing or needlework a well.

i read a few years ago that Rod Stewart used to make buildings for his model railway while on tour; he apparently he often used to book an extra room just for his modelling when not on stsge!

Worth looking up his layout Peter. He was the buildings man, and it’s pretty damn good.

Of course not!! :)
More like.... "God, it's so boring here..... Crappy room.... Nothing to do..... just can't wait for the morning to come" ....... ;)

You are right ; really high quality stuff. I rememberr it being featured in a Model Railway mag and hitting the mainstream news. apparently he moved it from his LA home to the UK, it took 3 months and a couple of large containers to bring it over.

My Storch and P-38 Lightnings were hotel room builds in the past.

Cheers,

Hmmmm.....
POSSIBLY ....... But only just! ;)
I've actually found I sleep better if I don't drink while away, just plenty of water. I normally try to get a walk in too but we took another engineers car down so I didn't have a coat with me, I'm driving next week though.

Is this a variation on the “show your work space” thread?
Well I’m in another hotel this week too but but sadly couldn’t bring my stuff in my checked luggage. On the flip side, the Aviation Megastore is on my visit agenda again this week.
