John,
Some lovely work coming together.
Thanks Paul .

That's coming on very nicely indeed John. And love the work you've done on the engine!!! Just a shame about the green colour!! ;)

In all seriousness great work and I hear you on some of the stupidly small parts we're supposed to deal with!

ATB.

Andrew
Cheers Andrew, yes some parts were bordering on " let's see how many parts we can make this kit into " There was times when a small part could have easily been moulded along with another, example a valve and a separate handle !

Thanks Paul .

I know what you mean..... Some manufacturers seen to be a slave to more parts is best regardless of whether or not it adds to the build!

Hello all , back again with some photos of this mornings efforts.

2022.jpg2022_2.jpg
Using AK enamel washes, want the engine bay to be covered in oil as the idea is there is a seal blown . Ive altered a figure to look as if he is peering into depths of the engine trying to see whats what.

Meanwhile the clutch and gear box has been done as well.

Really please with is last photo.

More soon .
Thanks for looking in, comments ,abuse etc welcome .

John.

Well, that's looking absolutely superb Mr Race :)
VERY realistic indeed, those last couple of pics, especially, could easily be mistaken for a real component ;)
Excellent stuff!

Now that is really rather good John! Have high expectations of what this will look like when it's finished!

As the others have said John, that is excellent. Very realistic weathering. Very believable.

That is pure magic 453!

It reminds me of the bilge in the narrowboat we used to own. Spot on for sure.

I've not seen better and doubt I ever will, and best of all you are always so modest about your most excellent work. I mean that too, John!

Cheers.

Today saw the start of the diorama box. I've spent several days doing fiddley bits of painting of kit, ammo boxes, and new wooden support for engine and gear box lifts, so reached the point where the box needs to be made.

You need two boxes, one to house the model and other items, then the outer case to the back of the frame. I'm using a cheaper foam board for all the inner and outer where the removal of the face paper is not required. No good spending money on Kappa Line when dot using the core.

Staring with the frame, the backing and glass are removed.

Backing board to the frame , this will need to be cut down in opening to allow enough space for the model. You still require enough space to be left between the inner box and the outer for a battery box and wiring .

Marked up , ready to remove the surplus inner section.

Final opening. Now I can build the inner box to this size. The outer box will be fixed to the outer edge of the frame. Depth has been worked out, there's enough room under neath for the electric's. More tomorrow.

Thanks for looking in.

John.

There's a lot more planning involved than I imagined. I suppose your background makes measuring and seeing ideas in 3D second nature. It already looks as if you have everything well in hand.

That's so true Jim...I just re-read this post and still have no clue about what he's going to do. Knowing John, it will be really good in the end though...

Sorry Brother, but I've been staring at the frame for over an hour now and nothing has happened as of yet. It hasn't moved, grown legs or changed color either. In fact, the glass and backing are still on it too......................Taxi!!!!!!!..........

Thanks Jim, my background does help , luckily I can see the completed idea ahead of actually building it .

Hopefully you will be right Dude1. It's too dark to cut any boards to size, I usually do that outside under the car port as the bench is full !
