Spots on the Internet (2023)

Probably #1 on my wish list, but thinning the shelf of doom and stash are still my priorities.

Is that a what-if, or a prototype, or something the manufacturer is pushing? Some searching turns up that it seems to be the actual, latest production variant.

Yes Jakko and, according to the specialized press, it seems Italy is going to order a hundred of Leo 2A8.

Those pixel camo schemes look like a lot of work!

That would be fun to mask, yes. On the positive side, you should also be able to use this kit for a 1990–2000s American Bradley, just not one for Operation Desert Storm or before (that’s what “ODS” stands for — meaning it’s a variant that incorporates modifications based on the lessons learned from that war).

Love the Leopard but does anybody have experience of RFM 'buildability'?
Steve
For a new kit it has the advantage over the Tamiya/Trumpeter offerings who now have age on their side (Challenger). Detail is good and the finished item looks the part. Leopard - Hobby boss has the most variety of marks and these I found to be satisfactory for my needs.

Probably passing the moulds around.
I don’t think they have the same subjects in their range. Rather, what I meant is that the whole appearance of RFM’s sprues is very similar to Takom’s. Not just the same colour of plastic (grey for both ;) ) but the … style of the sprues, I guess. Both use the same kind of “cut-out” letters to identify the sprues, for example.

On the DoraWings Facebook page, test build of their upcoming 1/72 Fairey Delta FD.2

I’ve managed to snap the nose just by looking at the post

Interesting choice … I wonder how many it contains, and if it has the foundations too that would give the correct spacing. From the box art, I get the impression these are exactly the right type for the ones near where I live:

Not my photo, but I did take these measurements of the ones in the photo about 20 years ago, in case anybody buys the Gecko set and wants to check:

Weren't they usually staggerred?
They were — see my drawing :) OK, only by 25 cm while the spacing is 110 cm, but the middle row is not in line with the other two. Could be the spacing was different at other sites, of course — the only ones I’ve ever looked closely at are these that are under ten minutes’ bike ride from my house (in fact, the bicycle path cuts through the obstacle!).

There are a lot of misconceptions about shapes, sizes etc. of these, though, as the 3D image in Dave’s post shows. However, I agree they are probably ideal for 3D printing.

"After the Battle" special issue, The Siegfried Line no. 163 has many before/after pics of dragons teeth & other WWII fortifications. Most teeth are shown on foundations to hold their alignment. Barbed wire, bunkers, fortified houses & pillboxes are often shown in support. Pics are from that magazine for illustrative purposes.
