The lovely postie lady turned up with the long awaited goodies today!

This one dates back all the way to the DeHavilland 125 Jet Dragon!

I'll be building the JASDF 'checker'

Miko (I have the best post lady! Always happy smiley and nice even in the rain!)

This little chap fell into the basket while I was ordering my masks for the Hurricane GB. it was 12%off so rude not to...

Arrived today. The Helix has dropped down the list. This is the next build after the 'King' is finished.

The box art.

Ugly - yes. But functional and what a blast. It operated from small ships for nearly all my service career. (25 years). Great to work on, even more fun to fly. One hydraulic system which if memory serves me was from the aileron from one of the WW2 big bombers!!!

Sprue shots, not a lot, it's only 1/72 and wasn't the biggest helicopter on the planet.

10 page A5 instructions. + clear parts and decals. (Decals cover 4 variants) 829 NAS, 845 NAS, 860 Sqdn Royal Netherlands Navy and New Zealand Wasp off HMNZS Canterbury.

Plastic parts. Including the AS12 missile booms but NOT the AS12 missiles. (Aftermarket bit which I will probably acquire). Not bothering with the aftermarket Mk44 torpedoes. Would never fly with both due to weight limitations.

Looking forward to getting stuck into this.
I notice on the instruction it shows the wheels fitted fore and aft front and back - that would NEVER be the case. So mine will be either sea borne mode or land mode.

Can't wait to get the Sea King finished now.
Oh - having TWO kits waiting - does that mean I have a 'stash'??????? ;) :rolling:

That looks like a pretty good kit, of a helicopter I could never get excited about, but I can see why you would be :)

A bit odd that they call the kit “International service” and then put two British examples in the box-top painting, though :)

It may be referring to the fact many countries operated the mighty Wasp. Malaya certainly used it to as I recall.

An eBay purchase gets me a 1981 vintage 1/72 Hasegawa Lockheed T33A
The instructions read 'made in Japan and packed by AA Hales of Liecestershire' . . . . which is nice. .

Lockheed T33A 'checker' (1).jpg

I paid a bit more than ten times this much!

Interestingly 'Cheltenham Model Center' still exists with the same phone number but a different address on the High Street

Lockheed T33A 'checker' (2).jpg

. . . it'll be built using the markings of the 'flight check' aircraft

Miko (I have discovered two more aircraft used by JASDF flight check squadron, I feel a theme coming on!)

The C47 is a bit of a dog to build but can turn out good in the end. Dry fitting testing is a must!
Thanks for the heads up Alan :thumb2:

It’s from the original Esci tooling from 1981 according to scalemates so I half expected it to be a bit “challenging” but for just under £20 delivered it was hard to resist :smiling4:

Watch the clear cockpit glass bit. It is very brittle and easy to snap. Ask me how i know lol

That looks like there's alternate parts to do a Scout. Two tail booms, wheels and skids

Weird as LF have also brought out this, (Scout), as a separate kit!
Westland Scout
It's a thing many companies do nowadays. Rather than release a kit with ten alternate markings, they'll put out several different boxings with a couple of appropriate transfers in each, and sometimes an extra sprue included (check out any AZ Model listing)
It must be a profitable business model. I'm surprised there are ONLY two versions!

I've noticed this too with Hasegawa, this is drifting away from this threads purpose, i'll post a new thing in 'Chitchat'!
