Fantastic work John, really coming along nicely. Now about our conservatory.......

Coming along nicely John, and I also can testify to the sharpness of model pins from when I used to build R/C aircraft using balsa. (ouch!)

Andy.

Thanks Andy, yes soon make you jump when the point makes contact.

Thanks Peter, unfortunately due to lockdown I'm unable to come, but Ron 570 has some friend who he can recommend :upside::smiling3:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now getting down to the detail, have started on the large tall building.

Doors have been made, including the support bar for the sliding door gear on the inside.

Same for the upper load door.

Then started to finish off the pulley arm that would have been used to take machinery into the building.

The lower section of plastic strip represent steel support for the safety chain across the doorway.
The cable will pass through the top of the frame. Chain to be fitted to the pulley itself later.
Assembly of the pulley was fun, took several attempts to get the connecting bolts in through the pulley frame, but I beat the b ****ger.

Thanks for looking in, comments welcome.

Thought I'd posted these yesterday.
Did some detailing on the tall building at the back. Hoist frame and pulley. The pulley is from RB bit of a sod to assemble, think I had about 4 attempts to get the 2 part pin together.

The white plastic parts on the outside are going to be the safety chain supports. Chain will of course have to go on last.

2020_4.jpgThe slab next to the door on the right is the support for the roller on the internal wall .

Comments welcome, thanks for looking in.

Cheers Andy, glad you approve .

John,
This really is looking superb, you really have a flair for buildings.
Thanks Paul, that coming from you is appreciated.

Splendid progress John.

Andy.
Thanks Andy .

Good evening Mr R,
Lovely bit of wood workery :thumb2: Loving the hoist...nice touch:cool:
Morning Si, thanks . The hoist frame was planned, but the pulley was one of those things that just grows as you build.

Evening all.
Been busy making the large doors and pressing out corrugated roofing sheets. Takes time but scale wise more in keeping than the plastic ones that I use for the jig to make them.
Now use the back of a paintbrush with the same angle of curve to help in making the shape. Although the two part blocks with the sheets stuck to them are ok this foil seems slightly thicker and needs additional pressure with the wooden tool.

Primed with MR Hobby metal primer. The sheets will be trimmed to exact size later.I'd like to know what the primer is as cleaning the brush you use cellulose, any idea please ?Tim hope you see this.

Doors.

Needing some material to use as a backer for the balsa I decided to use some 1.5mm Birch ply. Has worked well.

Pewter used for the straps on the outer side of the hinge plate, some bolt head ca on
I glued some longer sections of pewter so I can glue those to the inside of the wall and allow the doors to be left open in place. At the moment they are just standing in place.

Thanks for following. Any comments welcome, esp on the metal primer.

Hi John
Doors look great. Hoist is a nice touch - worth the frustration. The corrugated sheets are good. Did you make the mould thing or buy it?

Hi Jim . The corrugated sheets were formed by gluing two separate plastic sheets

(made by Juweelia, I bought a pack just to make the mould ! The plastic ones are far too thick to be correct .)

to blocks of softwood. The two faces form a mould , one face up with a sheet of aluminum foil on then has the other pressed down to mould the foil. Once pressed down you hold the bottom one still and slide the top back and fwd producing the shape. Quite effective really, you then just buy or use old take away containers .These have to be cut and flattened . Household foil is too thin ! I've tried it. Even gluing two sheets together fails .

Hi buddy , going to take a while yet, as have to make the joists for the roof, gutters and a run of pipe work going from building to building .Plus a support frame ! Stay tuned .
Lovely door work Mr R :thumb2:
Thank you young man .

Brilliant.
Thank you Peter.

John .

Fine work John. Am inspired to do my buildings again having the Oxford nearing its completion and just by looking at what you've done. :thumb2:
