Nice to see you are still making positive progress John. This is coming on a treat.

Aw Dave, I feel your pain man. So far the one Miniart kit that I took on, left a similar impression (or would 'depression' be a more appropriate term here?) Upon opening that over-stuffed box, what a humbling debacle THAT devolved in to.. Sigh.... But, I do like your labeling of sprues John, will follow your example next time.

;) Oh you are so right Ron, esp on the tracks.I don't think many could clip them together as they suggest. The pins must be at least .3 or even smaller. Plastic this time is soft, and very bendy. I got the sprue labeling from some one on here, saves so much time. The move advanced amongst us have sprue frames as well. :nerd:

Thanks Tim, starting to find it even harder now with the load bed and those evil tracks.

Arg the banter is what we love, thank you for looking in Andrew.

Quietly watching from 'Up in the Gods' 453.

Excellent work and me thinks you is having fun!

Greeting 570, hope you well. It has been fun at times, but frustrating as well. I don't know what other think but the instructions are at times vague with just lines pointing and a view from one face only.

Good afternoon, here at Short Meadows in Race Towers I have been working outside listening to a black bird singing while I cut the tracks off the sprues.

2021_5.jpg
They will have to be glued , as there is no way I can clip them together. In fact I seriously doubt any one does or can.

Earlier I went into the green house to move the hanging baskets in as we had storm forecast, 2 hrs later still no storm !

2021.jpg

The load bed has proved to be problematic, various section have to be glued and to line up .Thin in one or two places I have a few miss joints.

The was call to use some PE tarpaulin clips, again no way could I cope with such small parts, when they were so small.
2021_2.jpg
Cab was ok, I covered the seats in medical gorse to give a little texture.

Done some more work on the detailing of the engine. There is still a lead to terminate. If had a trail fit of the cab, you loose so much detail of the engine, so decided to leave off those side covers, bonnet and the lamp holder. That way the battery's are still visible. As to the tracks, well a rather sad effort by Mini Art I think , and just to up the parts quantities. Personally I'd rather have had rubber band type, or gone for a metal one, but no one makes them. So gluing will be the only way, not looking few to the curve around the sprockets one bit.

Thanks for staying with it, the comments do make it all worth while.

Being in a flat now I do miss having a garden, some lovely flowers you got going on there :thumb2:
Tractors coming on nicely as well John, good luck with the tracks and yes a poor effort from minicraft really, I would love to build tanks but tracks are what put me off! In this day and age you would think manufacturers could come up with something quick ,cheap and effective without a problem.

AN very nice work on that engine John as to me it looks ready to run lol
chris

Just had the storm pass over - about an hour of lightning & crashes & torrential rain - doesn't bode well for the outdoor tv screen in the beer garden down the road...................

Hi John, I've just had to try a couple of track links ,of yours are the same as mine they don't actually click together, I fitted two links together then pushed the pins in after and they seem to be holding and articulating, think a tiny bit of glue on the pin to be sure. Or was this the way you was going with them?20210703_181932.jpg

Great work John that engine looks a treat. If you are going to make the tracks link and length I would use Revell Contacta cement as it gives a bit of time to fiddle bits about.

Gorgeous flowers and garden John ! Hmmm.... those bowls full of tiny track links- not so much, brrr ! Seems like Miniart should do like the Rap music CDs and put a parental-advisory sticker on their kits. Instead of "Offensive Lyrics ", it could read something like, "Abandon Hope All Ye who Enter Here". Or, "Run Far- Run Fast ! " lol

Keep up the good work John, it looks like you're making a good job of it. The engine is very nice, I'm sure you will beat the tracks.

that engine is looking good John would say good to go,
do real like your shade house very nice lot of plants you have on the go,

Hi Mark, thank you for your kind coments on the garden, appreciated.
The tracks are slightly different from the one you show, the pins are moulded into the plastic, (I'll put a photo up later.) I've now cut off all the pins and just gluing. Again I'll put up a photo later.

Thank you Chris :smiling3::smiling3::smiling3:.

Cheers Andy. I've got some Contacta and some VMS slow, was going to use that when I get to the bends .

looking good...as usual.. :-)
Thanks Greg:smiling2::smiling2:.

Graeme thanks,it's a lot better now I'm running a very small file to take those pins off.

Engine looks excellent John…..very nice indeed
Thank you Si.:smiling2:
Wonderful work my friend. Very impressed with the exhaust colours. Keep it comin
Hello mate, that part was really enjoyable. Thank you.

Thanks Moni, we love the garden spend hrs keeping it in order.

As I said earlier have a new method of doing the tracks, just file off the pins, now they are just like normal link and length, stick or die !

The load bed is no more ! The outer sections didn't line up, I'd studied the instructions and followed as I thought was correct, out some where so scrapped the plastic completely. Started to build again using coffee stirrers and some styrene u channel. So far I've glued the bed up, using paper as a backing sheet and have glued the internal sides part way. When dry I'll CA the U channel on.
Photo up date later today.

Thanks for following.

Evening all.

Progress on the load bed . but first for Mark, a few photos of those tracks.

Assembly as .
2021.jpg

Well it doesn't work , they just fall apart.

2021_5.jpg

You can see how small the locating pins is.

2021_4.jpg

Those metal bars I bought about the same time as Jim did I think have been invaluable.
2021_6.jpg
I recently bought a Tamiya 2mm chisel, perfect for the waste removal after the saw cut.

2021_11.jpg

Rear seats.

2021_3.jpg

Sides and base.

2021_8.jpg

To make the base I'd cut a section of computer paper just to act as a retaining sheet. Gluing the boards on to it .

2021_9.jpg

Drying now is the rear section that buts up to the cab.tomorrow I intend to glue it and strengthen up that base.

Thanks for following.
Comments, abuse all welcome.

I see what you mean with the tracks now John the theory was good but not the reality!
Nice job with the woodwork. :thumb2:
