Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my 15 year old rescue cat Millie.

She had a tumour on her right shoulder that had weakened the bone. Must have jumped down from something on last Sunday night and caused a compression fracture. We were able to manage her pain reasonably well for a few more days but then decided it was kinder to end her suffering.
The house seems empty now...

Pete

I feel you pain Pete, we lost our beloved 20 year old cat to Cancer a few years ago - it's never an easy time. My condolences to you and your family.

Sorry to read your sad news. Part of giving a pet a good life is giving it a pain free, dignified death - something you clearly did.

Peter

Never a good day when you lose a dear loved one. It's lonely when they're not around to get into mischief,

Sorry to hear that Pete, God will be kind and grant her four healthy legs to roam in the fluffy clouds. You did right.
We have the same coloured cat named Jilly Moo Moo...kinda Frisian looking and fat.

Richard

Sorry to hear that news

Pets have a way of sneeking into your heart and i know oh so well whats it like to lose a beloved cat

Remember the good times...remember you gave her a long and loved life.....and thats a good thing

Truly sorry for your loss Pete. You did the right thing. It was last kindness you could give Millie. The pain is awful, but it does fade. When it does, look for another cat that needs a good home. I’ve had to do this twice in the last four years when our old boy and old girl reached their respective ends, but now I have a youngster curled up asleep with me while I type this.

Very sorry indeed. We have 2 British Shorthairs and dote on them.Till you meet again.
Hugs from Rich and Helen.

So sorry to hear that Pete, been there my friend

Best cure, after a while off to the local car rescue centre and get another unloved moggie to love. That's exactly what we do

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets are part of the family. I'm sure the difficult decision you made was the right one.

Many thanks for all the kind remarks folks, it means a lot to me. Yes, as some of you said, the last thing we could do for her was to give her a peaceful end. She slipped away calmly while I stroked her.

I'd have another straight away, but SWMBO wants to wait for a while.

Pete

Like you, E and myself are believers in being with them at the end. No matter much pain we feel inside, for them to have a loved with them is the best gift and reassurance when most needed.

I'm so very sorry to read that, I know that pain so well. I cried so much when my cat Pepper died, she was like a soulmate to me.
Those pictures are lovely, Millie was very beautiful indeed. I know it's very hard and it hurts like hell my friend but you'll never forget
the good times and being a rescue cat, think of the good life you gave her. So you should be proud of that. Take care my friend
