this is the latest release by airfix and I must say it looks a very good kit , plenty of detail in the office and some lovely engraved panel lines.

The decal sheet looks very good I might even put the instrument panel on mine as it looks quite good for once View attachment 103753

the inside detail looks very good it's a shame most of it gets covered up

There is the option to have the gun bays open as well so it's a big improvement on the last release .


Well there's nothing else to say now until I build it which will probably be in about a years time

Nice review Alan! At least Airfix put the IP decal at the edge of the sheet rather than in the middle - Eduard, Revell are you taking note?!

not really I'm just very patriotic and although the spitfire is not one of my favourite things it is totally british so it has to be done , airfix and spitfire is like fish and chips

Nice review mate. Are the panel lines trench like Airfix type, or have they improved? In other words, is it better than the Tamiya one?

I would say it looks the same apart from two areas , the nose rivets are way too high and there isn't a seperate piece for the nose cover other than those two things there isn't much difference

Yeah, but the Tamiya kit has superior fit. You barely need filler. The Airfix Spitfire Mk Vb needs quite a bit of filler at the wings and carburettor intake. However, the Airfix interior detailing does look good, especially the wheel wells

Well I'll find out when I build it , I know the tamiya is a good fit but I thought the panel lines needed to be a bit more defined still a good kit though
