Hi all here’s my completed black watch highlander . These old Airfix kits are excellent , making a very colourful change from my usual aircraft . I know it’s far from some of the truly excellent figure painting we see on here but I enjoyed it and I’m happy that I did it as best I could , here’s the pics , comments ,constructive criticism welcome cheers tony6DFC66E3-8FAD-434D-9D3E-07E18931DA91.jpeg6B760001-9126-4AFC-BC75-44C417B95E7E.jpeg94F1462B-3D60-4A3B-95E8-A3DF55AFD4F3.jpegF02272BC-DF16-45F4-BEA1-0A66A3B644B2.jpeg78741EF7-6097-47B7-BCEC-2E467CB88813.jpegB0AB4959-6E54-42A2-ABB9-4FCE25122DCD.jpegA0008AF3-2A7B-4327-BD61-649291E43060.jpeg489D6CA9-E596-4B88-9A7F-90AA2BBFC7DB.jpeg

A lovely result Tony and sounds as though you enjoyed doing it - great stuff.

Good job Tony as long as you enjoyed it and hoping you'd start on another :thumb2:

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks everyone for the positive comments , theyre very fiddly to paint but they look very colourful once theyre done and i do enjoy the change of genre now and again. Actually ive something else on the go which is nearing completion but i didnt bother with a build log , any ideas what it is?AC997C4E-B64D-4FA5-B563-0C33936C2DE8.jpeg
And no he hasnt got a wonky eye ! Its supposed to be shut :tongue-out3:

Well done Tony

I have a load of these kits in the stash - used to go to toy fairs picking them up cheap

You asked for constructive feedback - a bit of matt varnish wouldn't go amiss on bits that shouldn't be shiny

Flesh bits would benefit from a little shading next time - a quick cheat would be paint with vj shadows flesh then dry brush in a downward direction with flesh base, then a lighter dry brush with flesh highlight. Details can then be worked to suit.

You should end up with shadows between fingers, around sides of nose and in eye sockets etc - gives a bit more 3d-ish-ness to things

Hope that helps

Mr Wonky-Eye - looks like another Airfix. Is it the 95th chappie?

Cheers simon , i agree totally that certain bits are a tad shiny , truth is i forgot to give him a dusting of matt varnish until after i’d attached him to the base , and didnt want the base to be too matt. I also get what youre saying with the flesh wash, i thought his fingers could do with a bit of definition , but im a bit scared that if i mess too much ill end up making it worse so im a bit cautious . I might do his hands and leave the face. And congratulations give that man a cigar ! Yes its the 95th rifleman squinting down his rifle ( well actually hes just a head on a stick at the moment , enough to make anybody squint!) cheers tony
