I am happy to announce that Deuxieme Porte Aigle is finished!
Here are the bits painted and ready for assembly

And here's the finished article.
I must point out, for the benefit of those who haven't followed the thread from the beginning, that I didn't paint the standard myself. it was donated by Paul, a very kind member of the Planet Figure forum. I would never have bothered even attempting it .

I have to say that after all the belly-aching and indecision with this guy I'm very pleased with him.
Thanks for sticking with me for all this time.
The officer is up next
cheers
Neil

Very nice Neil. Good to see one in a helmet as well, not all that common to see.
Thanks Tim -it was a nice change from all those shakos!
And the officer has gold braid and tassels on his shako and breeches and boots, so another slight diversion before I dive back into 'Fusilierville'.

Love that Helmet Neil.....Tip 'O the Hat for your efforts, he will make an excellent addition and the Standard just puts the icing on the "cake"! :thumb2:

Most impressed with the whole thing, and at that scale ! Love the faces and the poses esp Neil .

Very nicely done indeed Neil. The assembly line reminds me of a lion dance on stilts...have you seen one performed before?
The flag bearer pose works as he looks like he's waiting to be cut down any moment...hazards for taking up the standard. Helmet is something different.

Cheers,
Wabble

Well, he wasn't QUITE finished.
The experts among you will have spotted that the standard lacked the gold fringe around the border, and somebody on Planet Figure pointed it out... :rolling:
I knew it should be there but I wimped out in case I damaged the beautiful paintwork. But then I thought 'what the hell?'
So I had a go with the lead foil- I wanted to be able to manipulate the fringing realistically

And I think I got away with it

I haven’t really been able to knuckle down to painting the next two figures yet, but I have been able to avoid the DIY by working on the casualties, Fusiliers 9 & 10.
This is where we left them;

Fusilier 10

Fusilier 9 is ready for paint

Fusilier 10 will probably be finished tomorrow, so I will post him soon
thanks for watching

And here's Fusilier 10,ready for paint- the equipment is still mostly separate, so it will settle down more naturally when I finally put it together

I've just noticed that I need to add the gaiter straps under the new boot soles.
I've 3D printed the shako and the musket, and the chinscales are separate pieces too.
time to have a go at the painting again.
thanks for looking in
Neil

The amount of altering and detail adding you manage is quite outstanding. 3D printing as well which nicely shows the advantages of that process.
