This morning I was having a brew sat in my favourite chair whilst picking fluff from my navel and listening to a tractor beating the s*** out of the hedges in our lane. Some would call the process 'Trimming', when there was an almighty bang inches from my head. A stone about the size of a golf ball had shot off the flail and somehow come through or over our tall hedge, smashed through the first thickness of our double glazing before getting lodged between the two layers of glass. We had toughened glass installed in case of bird strikes but didn't foresee missiles!
I dread to think what might have happened if we'd have had ordinary glass.

Here's the damage.

The farmer friend and neighbour was quite philosophical about it and just told me to get it fixed and send him the bill.

I still think I'll go out and buy my first ever Lottery ticket!
Ron

Hi Ron
You were very lucky indeed. You could have been outside or, as you say, not had the toughened glass fitted.
I would have missed your fun threads!!!!
Jim

Ron,
That must have been a brown trouser moment, glad the damage was only to the glass.

My word Ron your a lucky man. It doesn't bare thinking about .

My goodness Ron, that was a close call. Now did you manage to get your thumb out of your navel after that sudden jolt? :tongue-out3::tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Richard

Bloody hell, that could've been a lot worse!

Pete

Wow, one in a million there.....
Glad you’re OK...
Tim

You're one lucky man Ron, glad you're still around to tell the tale and did you get that lottery ticket?

I'm glad you're ok, but I am wondering if Mrs Ron believed you. Did she confiscate your catapult ?

Holy carp batman, that would have put a dent in your tin hat!
Glad that nowt happened to you and that the farmer agreed to settle the damage.

Thanks for the kind and humorous thoughts and comments, boys.
We try and stay safe and look right then left, but sometimes unexpected things like this happen and one starts to have the sobering thought that no matter how careful we all try to be circumstances can change in a split second.
So the message must be 'Do it NOW' whatever you perceive that to be.

Thanks again.
Ron

Sheesh Ron! That was close! In the midst of all the excitement though, I gotta ask: "Did you remember to save your belly button fluff?" I'm still waiting for all those sheep you were going to make with it all those years ago.

Thanks chaps.
Richard and Dave - Yes I did manage to 'Digitum Extractum' but because I jumped a mile I can't possibly write just where it ended up, but it certainly made my eyes water!..... :flushed:

Damn ! thats really annoying Ron , the ransome note must have come off when I threw it , must put a stronger rubber band on next time
