Finished this one this morning. Its the Airfix 1/48 kit from the dogfight doubles set. It represents the BF109E-7 flown by Oblt Joachim Muncheberg, Kommandeur of 7/JG26 in February 1941 and the scourge of Maltas Hurricane pilots. His small unit almost wiped out Maltas defending Hurricanes without loss to themselves. Thankfully for the allies, they moved to North Africa before this could occur. Muncheberg scored 19 victories over Malta. In total he scored 135 aerial victories before his death on 23rd March 1943. His final combat was over Tunisia in a BF109G-2, His 135th victim, a USAF 52nd fighter group Spitfire exploded in front of him after a close burst of cannon fire. Muncheberg bailed out, but died on the way to a field hospital. The kit was painted with Humbrol and Xtracolour enamels. I used Vallejo acrylics for some details and alclad gloss and Matt clear coats. Thanks go to Steve (Stona) for advice with the paint details. I've added his pennant to the aerial mast using a piece of plastic card. Can't find a colour for it so have left it white.
