HI all ive just fitted the decals on the chopper now do i just brush this decal fix over the decals to seal them down or what ?

I normally do put decal fix on the underneath and on top then seal with what ever varnish you need.

I put a layer down where the decal is to go, position it and carefully apply a layer over the top and manipulate it into any seams and creases. Let it pretty much dry and then keep repeating the layer on top until it fits the contours well. It may only need one application.

What make is it Chris? The microscale red and blue have different uses….others are probably one stop deals….

Got me there Chris, microscale stuff comes in red and blue bottles, but they are both clear solutions….got a picture?

its called micro scale Tim an a pic had to resize the pic from m/b to k/b

Ah, there we may have a problem Chris. That one is Microscale liquid decal film. It’s for stabilising old decals before you use them…..it’s not for placing or settling decals. You paint over old decals with it and they are supposed to work like new.

The ones you want are these….

You use the Micro set (blue) to make the decals easier to place. Paint over the surface you are going to put the d3cal on, and it will slide around better.

Once the decal is in place, let it dry. Then paint over it with Micro sol. This will soften the decal and make it settle down over all the lumps and bumps on the models surface. Don’t touch the decal once you do this, it becomes quite fragile and may distort, or even break.

There are others, by other companies, but I have always used these and find them quite reliable.

CHEERS Tim for the info well as i dont do a lot of platic modeling i think i'll just leave the decals as they are as i dont want to waste any more money on these two as had a lot of bills

No worries Chris. They are only worth having if the decals you use don’t perform properly. The red one is far more useful than the blue, by the way….

as the decals were an kept breaking it took me all today to fit them an line up the broken ones an as i got the shakes

If that’s happening Chris, give them a coat of the liquid decal film you already have. That’s exactly what it’s supposed to help with….
As to cost, to be honest, not sure, once you have it it lasts forever. I’ve had mine for at least ten years….
……Just looked it up in John’s shop and it’s 4.75……

Chris, you can't use Decal Film when the decal is already on the model. Coat the decals while still on the decal sheet, when dry cut as close to the images as the Decal Film creates a layer of film over the decal. Put your cut pieces in lukewarm water, remove and place on tissue, as soon as the decal moves easily on the backing paper it is ready to slide onto your model.
The Red Decal Solution is applied after the decal is placed in the model...let it do its wonders until the decal conforms to the surface. Don't touch it as they will look wrinkly at first but will settle flat.

WELL Tim since this model has been such i'll just do what you say an paint the decall film over the decals as now they are on its looking quite a good model i seem to have turned it around thank goodness an cheers for your info Tim really helped me

If the decals are on and set why not just spray it with varnish of desired finish?
