I agree that would polarize rather than integrate. or perhaps the intention??? people will find themselves . . .
can't agree more! I have unsubscribed the magazine myself and also contacted the edito (new?) for a possible refund of the subscription. not interested to MM Intl or whatever. If I see a cover which inspires I get the magazine, if not will stay on the shelf.

Hi All,

Got lost getting on board the refugee ship "Noahs Ark" and was immediately shunted to the wildlife section because I was still carrying the palm leaves salvaged from the MM site. On arrival I saw many familiar faces (they were on passenger first class) and glad they have been warmly recieved. I have yet to be cleaned up after processing at the customs, screened and vaccinated before being released to the new home.

Kidding aside I had to salvage over four thousand images in the last two days, mostly build blog images before I could say something here. I'd like to thank the SM members for taking me in warts and all :smiling6:
Once I've freshened up I'll head to the introductory thread and spill my beans. Meanwhile I'll have a walkabout the site to know how to share my current and past builds.

I know I'm going like it here as the MM guys are already showing it and the chance to meet old acquaintances, new modellers and friends.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Guys
Made the jump. Looking forward to seeing you on here.

Regards Lee

I may have most of the website backed up ( can't guarantee how much yet presently 6GB of data ) and will be willing to make copies for other people ( or work out where to house it for others to access )
Thank you so much Gary. I'm very tired and so busy presently that I can't do anything myself. Even my work PC won't allow me on the net today! I've had to borrow a friend's. I will definitely be interested in copies of my trench sections threads and 1:285 work.

it's general modelling rather than Military Modelling, although to be fair non military subjects were always welcomed. I have looked at people building big trucks, Star Wars stuff, big ships, cars as well as tanks etc. I reckon it is a golden opportunity for us all to branch out and take a look at some other aspects of the hobby.

thats what i like about forums that dont focus on a single genre

i am a big believer in trying to join in with GBs that are outside my usual interest as it not only helps develop new skills it also brings the forum together as a community

Hi Jay.... where have you been....its all been happening!

I've just posted my last on the MM site and after my initial panic when I heard it was closing I find myself with a warm and rather pleasant feeling this evening ( should I worry?)
In part this is due to the warm welcome us refugees from MM have been treated to, but also a feeling of pride that we didn't just crumble in the face of adversity and spurred on by other members (you know who you are!) we actually refused to let our interest and hobby fall by the wayside and sorted it out for ourselves!
So I'm grateful to the people at scale-models and also to those previously at MM who shared the news about this site!
Thanks again
Jason.
ps... just grabbed my old avatar back before it was too late!

Hi all
Just to say, I’m not going for a sub forum of ML either. I like it here so far, and the wide range of interests suits me down to the ground. if It was a bricks and mortar club it would be one I would like to join....
Cheers
Tim

Thant is fantastic news. Hats off to you .

Hi All,
Just joined from MM - will take a while to get used to a new site.
Nick T.

Well its nice to see most of us here.:thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:
As Jim has said earlier it would be nice to give some business to John the owner of the Scale Model Shop and host of the site.
Hopefully those that are in the UK might , I know several ex MM people already have done so. I would far rather support the shop than subscribe to an online mag that I could hardly read, and went down hill so very quickly.
John .

Hi Gents

Just found you over here, like most of you I have come across from Military Modelling good to see so many old faces.

Cheers

Hi all, great to see so many of the former MM have joined.
Many thanks for the warm welcome by our new friends here at SM.:thumb2:

Gosh so many faces from the other side - hope your server can handle the influx :flushed:.
Having a break from building at the mo whilst I get familiar with this new world.

Paul.

It’s great to have so many friends here but I want to say thanks to those who’s territory we have just invaded! You’ll find us a friendly, helpful bunch, who are here to help and not take over! Don’t panic we are not a danger to you.

Tony and Colin - thanks for the welcome. Appreciated
Well it is now something like 48 hours since the refugee crisis started. Lost count of how many lost souls have arrived but it seems an awful lot. I think we are starting to find our way around the forum. Seems to be pretty straightforward. Many things are different and there does appear to be a lot of categories to consider when deciding where to post.
Personally I am starting to 'get to know' whose who among the established members. Many great models and a really great variety. Star Wars stuff, figure conversions, burnt out trucks, civilian planes etc - you seem to have it all here.
Hopeful these last couple of stressful, hectic days will have laid the ground work for full integration and involvement by the ex MilMod guys in this forum.
Mostly though A genuine big thank you to the members of the Scale Models forum for your warm welcome.
Off now to sniff some glue and cut some plastic :smiling:
Jim
Well said Jim, and i concur.
