Continuing on my recent theme of wrestling with ancient kits (Novo Magister) , heres the Frog DAP Beaufighter mk 21 , a 1971 tooling brought up to scratch a bit. The kit is usual early 1970 fare , sparse interior ,simplified details but workable. I had to scratch a basic interior, do some work on the engine cowlings and exhausts , and add a few details to the wings (landing and nav lights)

I was quite pleased with the paint job , I pre shaded and for once didnt totally cover it up! A notable feature of the aussie beaufighters is the DF loop under the plexiglass dome , supplied in the kit as a thick distorted transparency and no DF loop. I crash moulded a new cover using the kit part as a former and made a DF loop from wire. Heres the pics , comments criticisms welcome , cheers tony

I saw the word 'Frog' and thought it must be yours Tony.Great job on an ancient kit.

Nice work Tony. I'm happy to see someone else is battling their way through these ancient kits. With hard work, a bit of time and some determination they can build into respectable kits. Your Beau looks great, and your Boomerang has a partner. Great work on that plexiglass dome too, this is something I might try one day.

A really tidy build, and the extra detailing has given this old kit a new lease of life.

Top work mate and 5 well earned stars.

Tony.

Tony that is truly amazing! What a great result from that old molding, you surely did it justice. I'm still in awe of the detail work you get in that scale! 5 stars from me,very nicely done Sir! cheers Trey

Thanks everyone for the positive comments, i was quite pleasantly surprised with how it turned out and Joe, i might have to get a pic of the beau , the boomerang and the vengeance all together ! cheers tony

For a vintage 1971 kit, she turned out really nice. Well done.

Result!

You made a great jog of that old kit. Good jog with the paint as well.

This dome thing over the loop aerial, what that all about? The crash formed dome is great by the way. Can I ask, why you didn't do the turret dome the same way? The actual cock pit canopy looks fine, but the turret one looks well thick. I might just be the light...

Never the less a great build of a much overlooked aircraft. Well worth five stars.

Fantastic photo Tony :thanx: Dave has a point, a Beaufort would look right at home in that group.

Thanks for the stars Ian! The rear gunners dome isnt too bad as far as thickness goes , i think it just catches the light badly cause its right up on top, the pic taken from straight overhead shows it a bit better. I did think about crashing a replacement but it was supposed to be a " quick" build so didnt bother!! cheers tony

I see you have a lot of work on this baby... but you done it all around in fantastic way

Great build

Cracking build Tony, great result.

After a Spitfire, I think this was the next aircraft I built, way, way back - and great to see one again!

Big 5!

Ron

A great build Tony with some nice pre-shading. The scratch building and alterations have come out well. Could you explain the crash moulding.
