Geoff’s 1/48 Eduard Spitfire Story - Spitfire Mk.I build.

That looks like a very comprehensive kit you've chosen Geoff.

It is a bit Nick but it does go together very well.
The instructions take a bit of careful reading though as there are several different types of Mk.I you can build depending on what stage of the production run your model comes from 😵‍💫

My chair is pulled up and cup of tea and hobnobs are in hand Geoff.

Have fun with the build Geoff, I found it went together very well indeed.

So a bit more progress to report 😊

All the cockpit components have been painted up.

Base colours airbrushed on with all the details being picked out with AK marker pens.

I’ll do a bit of weathering before joining it all together.

The build should progress quite quickly after this is done 🤞

Thanks for looking 👍

That's coming on very nicely Geoff.

I might have to look more at the marker pens for the finer details. Looks much easier and quicker than a brush.

Very nice work on the cockpit Geoff.
Cheers Ian 😀

Eduard pack plenty of detail into the cockpit so it makes it easier to get good results.

Thank you Andy 👍

Yes I would recommend them, I didn’t get the full set just the ones that would be most appropriate but they are great for detailing.

Thanks Tony 😊

I really like Eduard kits, the decals can be a bit tricky though.

More progress 😊

Cockpit has been built up and the fuselage halves have been joined together.IMG_5588.webp

I found assembling the cockpit a bit fiddly but got there in the end.

The wings have also been built up, this involved adding the undercarriage bays and machine gun barrels to the one piece lower wing and then the top of the wings were cemented into place.

The overall fit has been very good and a dry fit of the wings to the fuselage is looking promising too 😅

A bit more work ahead but it’s starting to take shape now.

Another update soon, thanks for looking 👍

I’ve managed some more progress this week 😊

The construction is all but finished and I’ve got some painting done.

IMG_5626.webp

I’ve used Mr Mahogany Surfacer 1000 to prime it as I was interested to see if it had any effect on the main colours.

The underside has been painted with Hataka orange range Camotint which is a close approximation to the call out which suggests Duck Egg Green.

The main wheels, propellor and spinner have also been painted.

One thing of note I thought, the kit is very nice apart from these.

IMG_5611.webp

Some terrible sink marks, I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with Eduard selling separate resin replacements 🤔

Easy enough to fix but disappointing given the great overall quality of the rest of the kit.

So that’s it for now, hopefully another update soon.

Thanks for looking 👍

Geoff.

Yeah, that’s disappointing- as you say, aftermarket but that is pretty poor.

Nice progress geoff , those exhausts are terrible , not like eduard at all .
