How do we know we're getting old ?

I know I'm getting older when I have to think for 15 minutes before answering to this thread question.

after speaking to a life long friend as I did the other day to realise that his son when you met him was half the age of his youngest grandchild now.

A couple of years ago I helped two policemen that where struggling to restrain a bloke… once the guy was in the back of the car, i noticed One of the officer’s looked about twelve and I couldn’t resist ribbing him, I asked if his mum new he was out that late….too which his mate burst out laughing as this was apparently a regular occurrence for him :smiling5:

Well as long as they aren't fluffy animal slippers with ears and such
The odd thing is, these new slippers feel like shoes - there's my excuse.
There was time when all this was funny , but now Mrs R has brain fog after her second jab and can't remember a thing that has happened today It's getting rather hard to keep calm.
Oh no. I hope it clears soon.
Sadly it's losing friends that makes me feel the march of time more acutely
Or even just famous people, you sort of grew up with.
forgetting the steps of how I painted the figure just a minute ago
I had to take a wheel off a car on Saturday. I remembered it's not a straight forward procedure because the car is so low, but just couldn't remember the exact process. I've owned the car nine years !
The noise my joints make just getting up off the sofa
Sometimes I pause, just to check things are still in place.
In my case it’s getting up (with difficulty) and imitating the mummy as I walk straight legged to the bathroom……then imitating a trawler in a force nine gale as I lurch down the stairs…..
So very true.
What are we on about?
Your round. Cider for me.

Its a bit rubbish getting older isnt it but for people of a certain age ( ie born in the 60s ) this will make you smile and cheer you up no end

Tony, you should worry!

Colour?! Folks born in the 40's/ early 50's had to watch this T.V. test card, and the programs in Black & White!

My mum and Dad had the first colour tele in our street. Boy, did we make new friends quickly!

The first telly i can remember us having was a black and white jobbie ron , like yourself when we got the first colour one it was a source of amazement.

I was born in the early 70s and i remember the test card, our first colour tv was a rental and it had a 50p meter on the back. That was the original pay per view!

My parents stunned me by buying a vide recorder, without any pestering from me. Top-loader with a remote control on a huge wire. Not so much fly-by-wire, more like pause-by-wire, whilst some actually had to leave their seat to answer the telephone.

My earliest memory is of our front room being crammed with people who'd come to watch Churchill's funeral on our TV, which was the first in the street. I think it had an 8 inch screen, and was so dim the curtains had to be closed. It packed up soon after, and was replaced with a 12 inch screen just in time for Queen Elizabeth's coronation.

When you go to bed with a back ache, and it's even worse when you get up..

Hangovers used to take an hour to get over, now they take the whole of the weekend

You know you are getting old when it takes you all night to do that which you used to ge able to do all night.

I'll get my own taxi thanks.
