Latest Acquisitions (2021)

I suppose technically an acquisition...have begun renting a new house, and to my surprise, a very suitable man cave waiting in the loft with a couple of desks, chair, display shelves and more power sockets than I can shake a stick at. Have done some repair work on the desks so will have to decide on a layout while the wood glue sets. But should do the job nicely.
Blimey..... What a result that is !! Get on there mate, that`s DEFINATELY an "Acquisition" Jack:thumb2:
You lucky Devil you!!

Just mind your head :thumb2:

You'll just convince your self everything looks good in them colours for a while :tongue-out3:
So it turns out three bottles were duplicates......

In this case I discovered this afternoon that I had a Humbrol paint that was only marginally darker than the green one I got..... That said it was an enamel one from when I very first came back to the hobby and so at least the Vallejo one will dry quicker....

And smell a lot better!

I've always liked the pushmi-pullyu - I can remember making the Airfix 1/72 version in the 70's!

Another ebay bargain!

Big day on "sleaze bay" recently........found a bargain on rail cars and circus caravans that I have been trying to find for several years. At the same time I scored several vehicles I had been after to add to the collection. The Borgwards in particular will be useful to convert to B-3000 three tonners and the Brekina MB LF 25 is way more detailed than the one available from ROCO. I have never seen the Roskopf tandem axle trailers, they are very detailed regarding the wheels and canvas tarps. The ROCO MB 4500 with the two trailer road train was an item I hadn't seen before and with free shipping, couldn't pass it up. Rick H.
Nice Rick, shall look fwd to seeing these in time .

Hi Chris
I am sure you have made a good choice and the Iwata will serve you well.
Jim

The nozzle is very tiny and the screw threads are delicate. You will rarely need to remove it but unscrew it carefully over a tray and put it back gently so as not to cross thread it and don't over tighten it.
Or spend hrs creeping around the cave, and still ended up buying a new one !

Hi all

So having seen some you pick up vortex mixers recently I've been keeping an eye on availability and prices of everything from cheap to expensive. Someone (I think Tim) suggested lab quality used ones were also a good option......

Anyway saw I this on FleaBay mid-week last week at a reasonable starting bid and followed it. I put in a bid 24ish hours before the end set a sensible maximum and waited. Mine was only the third and winning bid....only one other bidder.....

I have seen one place in the UK selling them online new for £200ish and also some used at well over £100....... :surprised:  :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

So it arrived today works well, albeit the rubber cup is a little bit worn (will have a look for spares) and at 3000rpm is a monster. It's bit bigger than I imagined and is something of a heavy weight at just over 2kgs1!!

So how much did I get if for.........

........including P&P...........

.........I paid the obscene sum of.............

..............£31.00!!! :smiling::smiling::smiling::smiling::smiling::smiling:

RESULT!!!!!!!!

Just arrived! After a fair bit of 'drama' with it not being sent with the original order, bought from a different supplier - not bad for £3.20 incl post, solid metal, just needs a little lubricant on the threads and head

I have given them a wee try out and they are really good and cut effortlessly, not to be used on anything larger than 3mm but for normal use I think they will be my go to nippers, come with a nice leather pouch to protect them when not in use.

Heard VERY good things about these for the finer work but not cheap are they....

With respect to the vortex mixer Andrew, inspect the bottle bottoms after mixing. The paint will mix spectacularly, but you might generate enough friction on that worn cup to abrade the pvc bottle bottom. I mix my VJ paints upside down because the lids are harder and take the potential wear better.....

Hi Tim

Already doing it that way as i seem to recall you mentioning it before.

I have been able to find a replacement cup as it's quite warn. Only £12 plus P&P but as the order is below their £60 minimum order they want to add a £30 surcharge.....:anguished::anguished::sad::sad:... More than I paid for it.

Bonkers or what? I'm going to try phoning them to see if they'll waive the surcharge.

ATB.

Andrew
