Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Postie just gave me this:

An ebay purchase <£14. Looking at the parts. they look really good, but the canopy really needs a paint mask!
Dave
Looks interesting Dave, not sure if I've heard of it before ...but that canopy.......

That actually looks worse than the 110s I have in the stash

When I saw this I instantly recalled having had the same model as a kid (with the right parts in the box, obvs). Never ceases to amaze me that our memories can be triggered to recall the most minor things from half a century ago, no bother, yet walk upstairs and I haven't the faintest why I'm up there!

I made a right hash of that hussar, mind. Maybe I should get another copy and try again?
Do it Paul, you know you want to!
I don't know why but I have a real love affair with these figures. They have been well surpassed in subsequent years by resin sculpts and moulding technology, but I just keep coming back to them. Perhaps it's the scope they offer for conversion-thinking about it, I haven't actually built ANY of them straight out of the box-oh yes just one of the French Fusiliers...

Hi all

So as a result of these two new arrivals in the past week, the most recent today, I now have all three 1/72 Tammy Mossies (all of which I understand are scaled down versions of their 1/48 Mossies). These are both for my Hunters and Hunted collection.

These were actually an interesting insight as to how people get caught up in eBay auctions......

These are readily available from a number of model shop sites in the £16-£18 range incl. delivery and yet clearly people think eBay is the best place and/or these are now hard to find (they are not!) - most people where paying into the low-mid £20s...someone even paid £27 incl. delivery from Poland!

That said I did buy these on eBay but from model shops because they would deliver to the local convenience store for me to collect at my leisure, I'm now working in the office 2 or 3 days a week so am not always at home.

I've long given up trying to understand some ebayers! If they have the nous to put something up for auction/buy it now, surely they have the wit to search retail sites for the 'normal price'? Adding 'rare' or 'vintage' doesn't make an item so! If I'm looking for a particular model, I never confine my search to ebay, but cast the net globally - being retired & not very moblie, I have no limitations on when an item can be delivered..................

Indeed.... And Scalemates even had links to in stock items at sensible prices.

So this arrived today, only 3 quid second hand, bit of a crease on the front cover but otherwise fine..... Got it after being recommended on Al Murray's and James Holland's podcast....

A great man and a great leader of men. If I can find the decals I want to do my GB mosquito as his ride.

Indeed..... And from what I know, which is not that much hence getting the book, as a great as a bomber pilot and war time leader of men as he was, his postwar legacy far surpasses that in many ways.

That said, his VC citation from what I understand was, if not unique, not far from it in the fact that it was not for a single act of valour as in most cases but multiple acts of bravery and the like, plus of course 100 missions flown.

Got this today , bargain at £19 + free postage! Ive had a quick look at the contents and it is absolutely stunning ,detail and engineering is easily on a par with Tamiyas finest and the instructions and paint/ decal guides are superbly done. Comes with 4 decal options too , unusual for a weekend boxing. Think I might have to do a proper in box review for this one B43A1A2D-6F1B-4232-A604-3410F8A5CB7E.jpeg

I've got three of their 110s in the stash. 2 are the ProfiPack versions with the additional masks and painted photoetch, and as you say they are absolutely superb, and again the instructions aren't too shabby either.

Will be really interested to see this come together.

I’ve got a 1/48 110 from Eduard in the stash as well Andrew. If that’s the one you’ve got, be aware that there were numerous references to the poor fit of the engine nascelles when it first came out. Not unbuildable, but something to be aware of.

Mine are all 1/72 versions..... Will have to have a check of some reviews. Don't remember seeing any major problems but will check, especially if mine's a scaled down version! Thx for the heads-up Tim.

Just checked..... Yours is a 2007 new tool. I have a ProfiPack E 2012 new tool, which started the line up of their 1/72 110s, a Weekend Addition C and a ProfiPack G-4.....

No mention of nacelle or any problems for that matter.... In fact the E review I found from a well known review site said this.....

The fit of all the major and minor parts is brilliant, and building the model was a very enjoyable experience. You can forget any preconceptions you might have about the 1/48 scale kits - this one is viceless.

Let's hope they live up to the hype!!

Yet another ebay swoop..........................

I see on the box, it says Canopy is injected. Any idea what that means? I'm pretty new to this so it may mean nothing special. I've just never seen it before.

It means the canopy is moulded in clear plastic as a normal kit part, and not vacuum-formed out of a sheet of clear plastic.

At my door, the postwoman delivered this today:

View attachment 456004

The second part of my order from International Models Asia: a small box girder (SBG) bridge for mounting on a Churchill AVRE (which has unfortunately been overtaken a little by the announced AFV Club kit, but I ordered it months ago so I couldn’t have know that) and tracks for the SKP kit of the A30 Challenger, because the ones supplied in it are … not great :)

Bought this 2002 book, brand new from Sarik (who usually sell R/C plans). Perhaps the book is dated by modern standards, but still makes good "bedtime reading".
