Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Wandering through the local Aldi this morning and they have their Christmas stock going in and it included a big stack of Airfix aircraft, would have been rude not to.

I have to say that whilst you have been very supportive of my various builds, you are clearly a very bad influence on me!!

We no longer shop at Aldi and yet having dropped my daughter off at work only half an hour ago, I found myself walking out of the Aldi just around the corner from her work with the below......I mean really.....I will of course not recognise my own lack of will-power and blame you entirely! ;) :smiling5:

Isn't that the point of having a business though.........
Not always. Sometimes the point is to maintain quality so you keep your market share and reputation. After all, the most effective long term increase in profit comes from increased sales.

You guys on the Insel are so lucky!!! Our Aldi's here in Germany never have any hobby kits for sale, at any time of the year......

Finally I have all the parts I need to compete my JPK 120:

A kind fellow modeller had sent me a barrel from a Hobby Boss Leopard 2 some weeks ago, but the envelope got mangled in the mail so only half of one side of the barrel actually made it to me — and then the post office tried to make me pay postage due when he had actually put enough on!

The same chap then delved back into his spare parts and found another barrel, which just arrived, more securely packed than last time :)

Hi

So having somewhat miraculously passed the age of 40 for well over the 10th time today - I dabble in time travel in my spare time ;) - time to reveal my surprise arrivals from the past couple of weeks!!

First up this, my Telford-eve eBay win using birthday money. @Tim Marlow had suggested a He177. Yes it is German and yes it does have four engines......but not a He177....but this. Whilst the lines had been somewhat spoilt by the various wartime additions, especially the top front turret, it is one of those rare beasts; a really good looking four engined plane, plus the accompanying masks.

Second up this. Having basically no room in the stash, even before the arrival of the Condor, I have been working on improving my set up and needed a much better light and I know a number of you thoroughly recommend ones like this. Thanks especially to @Bobthestug for his input. I had spotted this (or at very least a VERY similar one) lurking in the corner or his new build area and asked for his thoughts.

Finally, the other two clearly play second fiddle to this little gift!

Good haul Andrew. I am a bit surprised by the condor…..doesn’t fit into your hunters and hunted theme…..great looking bird though, even if it did have a tendency to break its back on landing……

Call it an outlier!

I've always loved the look of them and have thought about getting one one in the past. This then popped up on Fleabay and whilst I paid a bit more than I could have, it was by far from the most expensive one sold recently, plus it was birthday money and not my own hard earned cash, so I thought, why not!

As you say, not great structural integrity given its peacetime origins, which despite their best attempts they never fully fixed as I understand it

The only kit outstanding for my Hunters and Hunted project is Revell's 1/72 Ju 88 C-6 (kit 04856), which are like hens teeth. The are plenty of their bomber versions in the run available but I've only seen two of these come up in six months.... Both for silly prices.
