I had this handy little thing today I chanced across it while looking in the shop I have had a little play with it with some success IMG_20230714_132330.jpgIMG_20230714_132341.jpg

From AliExpress - a delivery by Evri.............

I saved a whopping 50p by getting it from China - although it shows the Flakvierling, the crew could be on any AA gun..............

From what I've read, it's apparently an excellent kit so I'm looking forward to building it.... when I can fit it in,that is!!:smiling5:

Yet again no tracks.......

Hi all

So a bit of come down from the recent paint purchase, with a kit and some AM parts...not bad but paint is soooo much better!

Seriously though, I have to be honest and say that I'm not a huge fan of the long nose FW190 Doras......the proportions look all wrong (a point @AlanG agrees on BTW) but as I didn't have one in the stash I thought I should have at least one.

Second hand eBay purchase as usual....current new Profipack D-9 (£27) plus the cheapest I could find the AM parts for, come to about £42 delivered. I managed to snag the pair for £21.

Ok so the box is a bit battered but that's sometimes the nature of 2nd hand kits - the contents are fine and that's all that really matters.

As for the book not modelling related but thought I would share it.....it's actually by a former colleague of mine, who I also count as a friend and most importantly used to be one of my main curry buddies when I was in London for business.

She is really one of the most interesting - without being self centred - and nicest people you could meet. She's quite well known on the SF scene and amongst other things has contributed to the Doctor Who novels.

This has only just been published and so I thought I would support her (I did manage to find it cheaper than the jacket price!).

Cool... Might get one..... Don't have one of these.... Just found then going for not much more than you paid

Not a kit but I bought a new laptop yesterday. My last was pretty old about eight or so years, I think maybe one of the valves went. The wi-fi was almost non existent so bit the bullet and now have a laptop that is sooooo much better.
Silent! runs YouTube in full HD with out pause. Much better graphic and screen. Happy bunny!

It's only when you use a new computer, you realise how bad the old one was!

Too true.

I had a go at playing one of my lads games on my PC. It was liking watching a time lapse! :smiling5:

I went to my parents' and enjoyed a very nice couple of weeks with them in the fresh air of the western alps while SWMBO was sweating everything she could at home; and no, I'm not that cruel: dad and mom needed some care as they are now 90 and 87 years old respectively. Now I left the job to my sister coming from LA and on my way home, while I was simmering in my car (with an external temperature of 38 °C and under a blazing sun for more than 6 hrs no air conditioning system can make you feel really comfortable) I realized I was very near to the model shop from which I usually buy online. Made a short detour (15') and got those consumables:

I strongly resisted the temptation of many kit boxes luring at me from the long and densely packed shelves. Should the store had been climatized, probably I would have given up while enjoying the fresh climate, but it was as hot and damp as outside, so I left as soon as I found all I was looking for (TBH, panel liner, the wash and the large bottle of thinner were not in the list, but I'm weak:flushed:).
Moreover, I got from my sister's archive (she has a university degree in Architecture) those old letrasets sheets

I'm not sure if they will be of some use or not in modelling after 35 years in a garage, but... why not giving them a second chance! :nerd:

Wow….haven’t seen letraset for years…..if they don’t rub down they may be no good. On the other hand, rub down transfers are apparently able to be reactivated using methylated spirits, just like methfix transfers (once the preferred weapon of railway modeller), so if they don’t work it might be worth a try….

Wish I hadn't thrown my collection of letraset and mecanorma transfer sheets.

Cheers,

Thats why I stopped using my flight sim on a PC. If you install all the maps to make a flight realistic you - jump - across - the - sky - like - a - dyslexic - duck. ( But I do miss my X-Plane flight sim!!!)
