Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Not model related in any way...(unless you count the fact it's a newer model than I already own)....but yesterday I went mad and threw just under 10 grand at this and it'll be arriving on Tuesday..

Very nice Chris, I hope you have many years of trouble free motoring with it.
Cheers Ian,
I've ran an original Insignia (2011 plate) for the last 6 yrs and apart from a couple of things she's given me 99% trouble free motoring, ..thankfully she's being passed on to Mrs L, so she'll still be in the family so to speak..

Here she is..

I ran Vauxhalls for many years, starting with the first FWD Cavalier, followed by 5 more, interspersed with occasional Fords.

Ok you've had your fun can we stop the endless drivel about The Andrew and WH Smith!

I built this 30 years ago.

I was a bit put out at the time that I couldn't get the meat chopper or the mortar carrier.

/ I can now, and I've just pre-ordered them, plus another M3A2, from the shop. Happy days.

Roll on September !

And lo, it came to pass that Andrew did find himself upon the Bay that is Evil....
huh.png

....and verily did his gaze did alight upon an item that hath very few minutes left to runneth...
shocked.png

...but wait!! He had promised to himself and the universe that no more would the additions to the stash be....

...but it was, alas, at this very moment that his backbone did crumble into dust and his weak will disintegrate like a fine mist under the blaze of the hot sun...

...and so it was that he bid on this item at the last moment....and win it he did......and much was his rejoicing.....
...but louder was the wailing of his bank account!!

Ok, so now I've got that off my chest, a return to the on true scale! This is actually an Eduard reboxing of the Arma Hurricane, with the usual bells and whistles. These Arma kits are very good; as one mainstream reviewer put it...."Arguably the best rendition in the ‘one true scale’....".

The Arma kit and this particular re-boxing start at £17-18 new here in the UK.

I had had a stroke of luck in that I saved myself the £3.50 P&P as the seller worked only 5 minutes from where I live. So I picked it up from him on the way home.

This actually makes it the cheapest recent Fleabay sale for this kit at an exorbitant.......£12.21. RESULT!!

I actually have the new-ish Airfix tooling of the same plane in the stash and so might do them as a duel/comparison build at some point.

The M2A1 medium tank kit by Vargas Models that I purchased recently has really poorly done suspension and wheels, to the extent that I feel the only way to fix it is to replace it completely. This is a major effort, but luckily, for the M2A1 you should be able to modify a set from an M3 Lee/Grant or early M4 Sherman. The problem there is that the only set available with just the suspension for these tanks is almost impossible to find — you have to order direct from Asuka, it seems. A message on another forum, though, resulted in:

… a kind soul mailing me the entire suspension he had left over from a Takom M3 kit :) Now all I need to do is figure out how to narrow a lot, but not everything, but including a set of tracks (that I already have), by about 1.5 mm …

My haul from the show last weekend in Stammheim. Not a lot of traders but they had some goodies to be had,

IMG_3917.JPG
Paint for Andy's GB, stock refill on Tammy cables, Some paper wood grain for later, 2 cheap sets of 3D printed Panther shells & jerry cans, PVA for my RT Models house kits, pig fixer, and AK white spirit (that I forgot I already had) and some cheap Quinta 3D decals. I then remembered I didn't have any ZIS-5 kits in the stash, jut GAZ-AA kits. DOH!!!.......So, a little retail therapy was in order,

Gave out €40 for these two. Now I have a ZIS-5 series kit and the Quinta decals are perfect for it. The MAC kit is a nicely molded which surprised me. There was a club member building the Trippel there and he said it was a great kit, so I snagged up the last one at the show. It's got to be the 'Fugliest' Schwimmwagen ever built!!!..........

What can only be described as quite possibly the most significant purchase of the year so far - surpassing everything that has preceded it!!

After all, as a wise man once said....."You can never have too much paint!"

This is actually for the pilot for my Raiden, so I can now crack on with painting him!
