Post arrived this morning!!!

New nippers as the current ones are real cheapies, functional but cheap. I said to myself if I was enjoying the building I would upgrade so here they are.
Also a can of undercoat as I am less than impressed with the Vallejo Light Grey that I have been using. See how the can goes and if it's an improvement I'll morph across to it permanently!! Or until something else catches my eye!!

On another forum recently, there was talk about this book (well, the UK edition) so I went looking for it, and found a copy for sale in the Netherlands, which I bought right away. This is the American edition published by Squadron/Signal, but oddly, in A4 size — I guess to avoid having to reduce it in size to fit American paper.

(For those who’ve never heard of it, this is a compilation of articles on basic and more advanced modelling techniques published in Military Modelling magazine in the 1980s, written by Bryan Fosten under the pseudonym Stan Catchpol.)
The UK edition of this was a magazine - someone showed in a build on here only a few days ago. Old, but still VERY useful!

Whilst I haven't had any benchtime - I can't resist a good bargain................

£18.70 delivered!!
The suspension looks really complicated - 4 wheel drive, independent suspension with four propshafts - oh, and 4 small anti bottoming wheels -and it looks ODD

Got one of these in 28mm. They are an odd series of vehicles. Some, in June 1940, were equipped with A/T guns as desperate measure tank hunters

Just dropped off as I have done the tamiya grand slam Lancaster a few times I have gone for a straight lancaster but I will be having the motors from the grand slam and hopefully get this one motorised. IMG_20240319_170849.jpg

I'm certain I've got a full set of photo etch for this kit in the stash somewhere...the one with all the flaps and other stuff...

Like I said, originally published in MilMod, but there was a book version too:

I couldn’t find that one, though, else it’s the one I would have bought instead :smiling3:
Absolutely great source of information. Mine is well used and going strong!

interestingly, there were more articles published in MilMod that were included in the compilation book, which is a bit of a shame, but does not distract from the usefulness of the book.

This one broke the bank at 3 quid +p&p

There are no instructions but that shouldn't be an issue as I'm going to kitbash it to something in the style of this

Well, I'll have a go at least. I've been watching far too many Adam Savage videos and he makes it look easy :tears-of-joy:

Love that idea. Your paint skill will make that shine…..can’t wait :thumb2:

I just got my early birthday present to myself. a Gaahleri GHAD-68, trigger based airbrush.
I got it because with my arthritis I'm struggling to use and control my normal airbrush for more than 3-4 mins at a go.

Sounds like a fun project Andy. It will be interesting to see how the kitbash goes on.

Another book for me:

Not read it yet, of course, but on leafing through it looks to be very thorough and very well worth the €17.99 it set me back. In fact I might have expected it to cost about twice that, based on the content.

I've got a traditional duel action one of theirs and love it. Very good for the price.

Two parcels today: The one from my 'local' paint pusher...

So I'm good for German WWII navy for a couple of builds!
The other was a bit more interesting.

A Heller ! the plastic looks very nice and the detail too. It has rubber tyres which are a bit odd. they are two part! Should be fun.
Then I saw this:

I thought it would be good company for the Opel Blitz.

Then I discovered I had earned a whole load of loyalty points. Enough to buy this and still have some left. So a free kit! nice!20240321_115920.jpg
Cheers!

This just came in the mail, tbh I'd forgotten about it, bought it off ebay a couple of weeks ago.
it looks like a nice kit, comes with what looks like a mask set and PE parts, also the decal sheet is huge and two pages!
