So anyway, I'm still at the charity shop I mentioned last week (the DSS have decided I should 'volunteer' while I'm looking for work .....).

I spotted a couple of toy boxes with Lego in. Both my grandson and great-nephew are keen builders with it so I asked the manageress how much. She named a price and when I offered her the money, she knocked off nearly 50% for staff.

Paid her and took the boxes home. There seemed a lot after I'd taken all the part-constructed bits apart and there were a couple of instruction books so I looked into it a bit more. Two nights later, it turned out that there's enough in the box to build three kits. They're not absolutely complete - I think there's probably 30 - 40 pieces missing overall - but as you can see from the photos, they're OK.

The last two shots show what's still left over and the 'shuttle' which fits inside the Star Destroyer. I've included what seems to be fast on it's way to being the new international standard comparison object.

I feel sorry for the kids of course but they're much too valuable to give away - even though I only paid the princely sum of £5.99!

Gern

PS I know Lego is not normally classed as modelling but .....

Won this on EBay for £25 plus p&p:). Its like a time capsule! The car is from 68/69 I believe and this is an original edition of the kit so it must be at least 40 years old and it is pretty mint. A friend thinks it would be a shame to build it as it has survived this long but they were made to be built weren't they??

I say build it :) it will a lot better built and sitting on a shelf that box with a picture on it would.

I think it should be Preserved.................. In a display case after being built

Build it.......If you don't, every time you take a peek at the contents, the harder it will become not to break out the glue.

Thanks Gents, I'm glad you share my view. I don't understand why people just lock kits away. We all have a stash but my intention is to build every one of mine (eventually).

Gonna start researching the 1:1 car and build this winter. Hopefully do it justice:)
