Always enjoyed lego models, but I found this using what looks like mostly lego parts but from another manufacturer. V8 twin turbo WITH transmission and all powered by a battery driven motor. This looks like it should be fun. Delivered from Amazon in 1 day!

Wow, that does look good. I used to like building Lego too.
I did a model V8 a few years back (not Lego) which was battery powered and had moving valves, cylinders, etc, think it was the "Haynes" one?
There are detailed enough so you actually see how an engine works and the mechanics of it all.

Wow, that looks great fun. I still love lego, and this looks like the best of lego technics and then some.

It's a fun subject. I have got it and made a start. It is pretty much lego style pieces maybe a little less quality (Chinese version) but pretty good. I am already suffering from lego thumb. You knbow that dull ache when you have been squeezing small parts together for a couple of hours. I have so far spent about 4 hours on bag number 1 of 7.

So this is what you get after about 4 hours. Nice colored pistons and quite tricky to get the timing in the right order. Onward and upward.

You can see the electric motor and battery box in the background. Everything is a bit floppy at this stage.

Looking really good tempted to get one of the many on the British amazon site for my stash :)

This is certainly one of the most complex Lego style models that I have attempted. Partly because the instructions are no where near as fool proof as the Lego versions. Having said that I am having a great time building (and frequently undoing and rebuilding) this. In the first picture I have assembled what I presume is the twin turbos valve system, all of which works, and which was quite a challenge to get right. In the second I have added the timing chains and the rocker covers. I am not a well informed mechanic so my terms may well be off.

It certainly is fun but very challenging to get right. I still have the gearbox to add so it will be about 20" long by 10" high.

Coming along really well. I suppose you have to check and double check each stage very carefully. An error at one stage would upset later stages.

Not just a V8, but quad cam as well. Very nice.
