There’s a slight(!) gap at the right hand wing root. Left fuselage and tail dry fitted shows a better fit. Going to need some plastic card to sort this out.

This might be fixable by enlarging the opening or shortening the tab of the centre wing section. Or is the bottom half of that wing correctly in place?

The bottom half of the centre wing incorporates the lower section of each fuselage . So it can’t be shortened easily.Not a problem.I will just fill it with plastic card.

Just a thought. If the top part of the centre wing hasn't been glued already, how about cutting it right down the middle and adding the card there. It might be easier to fill and sand, then re-scribe in the middle rather than near the fuselage

Not to mention it’ll keep things more symmetrical than if you need to fill on one side. Alternatively, and for the same reason, glue the centre section in the middle and fill on both sides.

I’ve glued the two fuselages to the centre section and also glue the horizontal stabiliser in place. I had previously glued the upper half of the centre wing in place. Managed to remove it and only caused damage to the trailing edge of the lower section. Not a problem. Just a bit more filling,sanding and rescribing to do!.

This was normal modelling for me years ago. I've been spoilt by new kits like the Zoukie Mura Phantom in the photo. Everything fitted perfect on that one and only a tiny amount of filler needed on a join under the radome.

I’ve glued a piece of plastic card to one end of the centre wing upper half and sanded it to shape. Now glued in place.

The instructions say to ‘drill holes in lower wings at marked positions for tanks’. There are no marked positions. So I am having to best guess them from photos. Meanwhile the filler fest continues .

I thought, “Why is he posting a picture of a chair?” and only then realised it’s part of the picture of the model That looks like it had quite some gaps, yes. As for the holes: if you can find a front view with the tanks in place that also shows the wingtips, you can measure in that and do some calculations based on the size of the real thing.

Wingspan of the real aircraft is 15.62 metres. Using the ruler tool in Photoshop, I find the wingspan in the photo to be 728 pixels, and the distance from the left wingtip to the pylons under that same wing to be 94 and 158 pixels. That translates to 202 cm and 339 cm, or in 1/48, 42 mm and 71 mm in from the tip of the wing.

Thanks Jakko.Ive based my measurements on the position of the star n bars under the wing for the outboard pylon.Then I measured halfway between the outboard pylon and the wing root for the inboard pylon position.As you've gone to all that trouble I will mark out one wing with your measurements and see what it looks like.

I initially thought id posted a pic of the chair in my digs as well!. When I tried to remove it I realised it was part of the same pic!.

Please let us know how much it differs. I won’t guarantee my measurements are any more accurate than what you have now, but it seemed better than having to eyeball it completely

As you can see from the photo Jakko, your measurements are slightly different to mine.But as you took the trouble to help me I am going to use your figures. All I need to do now is work out how far forwards (or backwards) to mount the pylons.

ve drilled holes for the pylon before I saw your photo. No problem though.I will drill some more and move the pylon forwards a few millimetres.
