NEED HELP FROM MODS

Strange things
The little box for typing posts is slightly different on my phone to what I get on the pc. It used to be the same
It just takes time to adjust to new things at my age. We have a new dining room table and the meals taste different The missus just says I'm going senile and she'll have to trade me in
Jim

Works fine on my iPad Ian? …see ;)
I only have an iPad mini that Apple have chosen to call obsolete and can't be updated past v.9 the money grabbing gits! That back fired never buying anything Apple again.

Works on my android phone not checked the PC yet.

HI THIS IS WHAT I GET COMES UP
Under your red curser is a funny P directly below that is a smiley icon. Click on that and the icons come up.
Yes this is the way it will be from now to the next time it gets updated and we all have to learn it again.
It is only smilies so not the end of the world.

I updated the forum software to the latest version, I looks like this is part of the update, you now have 3 sets of 3 vertical dots, you need to press those for more option :thumb2:

Hi, on my laptop now and can't remember what the previous task bar looked like except the icons have been moved around but look the same, one or two new ones but the old ones haven't changed a bit.
Only noticed the dots yesterday which means more stuff to play with to customise my messages and replies.
Just like I have centralised the paragraph here, changed the font and color.
  1. This is new I think...List
  2. And it is automatic
  3. With just a highlight and click.
Will try the indent if I need to next time. ;) Imoji works the same.

Cheers,
Richard

What’s going on is that the text field has a couple of separate toolbars, and each has its own “more” button of three dots. IMHO this is a poor decision by XenForo, because it’s not at all apparent to a lot of users, I would think. (I hadn’t noticed myself because I always write messages in “BBCode” mode — click the icon that looks like [ ] for that — which disables most of the toolbar anyway.)

I was under the impression that upgrades were supposed to make things a little more convenient and smoother operating.........guess I was mistaken.

all the icons are back
:thumb2:

lol
I think that 90% of software updates that land on a PC, of smart phone are designed to make the writers look smart and the users look like chumps.
Just had an update on my phone and spent 10 minutes just to get the wi-fi to work again! then sift through all the useless :poop: you have no use or interest in to find the stuff you actually want.

Me too Ian. I think software writers should be force fed the adage “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” until they understand it.
Mind you, Microsoft take this to extremes. I used to hate the “word” updates we got at work. It seemed that every time they updated the program they moved all the icons and menus…..

In many cases, new versions of existing software mainly there to make the program have more functionality and therefore seem more desirable over its competitors. Never mind that most people won’t actually use any of those new features, of course, let alone that most real users would prefer bug fixes over new functions :)

Ah yes….the ability to highlight documents in 256 colours comes to mind…and then boggles it completely :tongue-out3:
Who on earth would want to do that!

Microsoft ( or swap in most manufacturers of software ) changes are usually made in response to users requests.
If they don't make changes they get accused of not listening to some customers.
If they do they get accused of not listening to other customers.
That is why they added feedback ability from programs a long time ago.

Many changes are for accessibility.

Personally I think a lot of the time there are a lot of code writers that are trying to justify their employment. " Hey! look what I can make it do now!"
Updates and Upgrades should be two very different things. An update to fix a problem. An Upgrade to add new blinking lights, whistles and bells and should be optional.
Yesterday I got a heap of "updates" for my phone. 75% was not at all interested in; things I never use. 24% things i never knew it could do. only the last 1% was to fix a problem.
But now If I want I can turn portrait photos into cartoons! yeah!
Whatever!
Thanks John for fixing the Icon/smiles thingamabob.
