Plaiting milliput may give a more realistic appearance I would think.

Maybe you could plait some coloured nylon thread within to simulate the lengths of cord/cloth they used to incorporate ... Although not sure the good lady would do this because of her status.

*edit* you posted at the same time ... Strike my idea then :)

How about using the thinner hemming elastic ... This would take paint quite well.

Hi all

just done the first go at the chainmail shirt, same as the drivers except she will get some kind of decorative belt, mainly cos shes the boss lady,

As you can see ive added the sleeves and the start of a bit of bling on her arm, also the start of the sword belt

Paul

Thats great detail in the chain mail top but I never realised that the stuff was so clingy. I would of thought that the mail over her breasts would of been, err, flatter?

Being the boss she could of had a fitted one made I guess.

How have I missed this so far? Incredible craftsmanship Paul. Truly a work of art.

Ian thanks mate......... dispel the myths that chainmail was this loose baggy thing that was chucked on, if you had a chainmail shirt your local blacksmith was your tailor. It was a fairly simple job for a blacksmith to make a chainmail shirt fit by removing or adding links, you wouldn't want to go into battle with one flapping around. I take your point about the boobage area though, there are a few more bits to add later which will explain why its so fitted around there but there is also the problem that, if I flattened them out, and she is wearing mens attire, from a model point of view she could be mistaken for a bloke. I do have my doubts like you at the moment about the shape but ill wait until ive finished the other bits and then look at it. Had this been medieval times they would definitely have been flatter as she would have been wearing a hauberk made from leather. please keep these comments coming it makes me think twice and can only improve my work

Hi Jason glad you could join us

Paul

I am glad that you take me comments so kindly and as they are meant; a suggestive question.

Unfortunately for me I have to kinds of medieval female warriors in my head. The ones you see in film/TV dramas and those you see in the fantasy world.

I can understand the part about not wanting her to be mistaken for a man...

I do enjoy watching your work. I find it both fascinating and inspiring.

Hi Paul

As usual stunning detail and progress.

Reference Ian's point about the boobage area .... I would imagin she would have used linen strapping to bind her womanly appendages close to her chest before donning leather and chain if she followed the traditional Celtic woman's work/battle dress compilation.

Ian no problem, we wouldnt improve without constructive critisism

Colin yep she probably would have ill have a good think about it

Sorry Tony missed you there, thanks mate glad you like it

Paul

Just got caught up - again, Wow Paul, She's looking great, can't wait to see more.

The "just blobbed a bit of milliput" hand you fashioned is cracking, and however you do it I'm sure her hair will be equally good,

Just had a thought, don't know if it's any good, but have you thought about using doll hair http://www.dollyhair.com/acetatehair.html

Or is that going too far.
