Excellent comments boys. Thank you.
Here's the radio/navigation and flight engineer's area. I presume. :upside:

Totally fictitious dial colours, but they look pretty and do the job.

Like the front bit, rather late, I found a couple of minor scratch bits I could have, and will include, before the buttoning up is done.

Don't fret none boys. All the dust will be removed before I go around 'Touching Up' :flushed:....with me diddy brush.

Cheers.
Ron

Coming on nicely. Great idea to show it open. I think it's going to look pretty special.

Thanks chaps.
The top and ball turrets.

The ball turret components. Observe the clear plastic 'Ball' which I've started to paint. What a ball ache to paint!

...and it still needs a heap of cleaning up.

The top turret framework was obviously a lot easier to brush on. The kit's clear plastic bits for the many and varied 'See through' frame details are very good. Well moulded with good grooves and raised frame work to follow with the brush.

In position.

Before I fit the ball turret, I have a bit of scratchery to do in that area.

Cheers all.
Ron

Not too much scratchery in the ball area Ron, matron will be listening!
Pete

That shouldn't bother Matron too much, Pete...She knows in a few days, it'll be time for Rons annual bath!!! Should cure the problem till 2024......BTW, nice work on the glass and the innards Ron.......

Thanks for the usual abuse.
I would have it no other way!:smiling4:

I've made a start on the 'big' pieces of clear plastic. Complete with their usual bits of dust!

Thank goodness I only had one of these to paint.....

This little tinker goes above the radio shack and houses a .50 cal.

On we go.

I don't know why the above image has decided to walk off the main thread pictures above and it's too late to edit, so.....

The tail gunner's turret and innards.
Again, a large area of clear plastic. As can be seen, I've painted some bits..

With the exception of the top turret, to prevent knocking off, all the .50 cal gun barrels are glued on almost last.

One side done...

Cut up, here's the second side which will be open. I only need the top bit.

Cheers.

That's some hand painting Ron. Patience and a steady hand. Attributes that must be genetic as it can't be the result of good, clean living in your case! :smiling::thinking:

Doing all this cutting and hacking takes some nerves. Looking extremely good.
John.

OH 570 pity you not fittin in the figures or are you goin too brilliant

Thanks for the abuse and very nice compliments, boys. All well received. :thumb2:

Chris. I thought about including the figures - Until I saw how much a set costs! :astonished:

I have a basic set from that very old Airfix B-17, which I buried in some wooden huts in a dio. on here, so the idea isn't quite dead, maybe, perhaps, might, but I doubt it.....

Thanks again for the feedback boys.

Ron

I've got all the tools mentioned to cut open anything like coping, hack, jewelers, buzz, circular saw and miniature blow torches but still I use the drill and filing method for more control of curved angular shapes with compound curves that are hard to negotiate unless they are flat and smaller than the restricted size of the saw.

B17 looks good Ron ...figures will be nice if they can be animated and posed with the right gear on but will also look okay without.

Cheers,
Wabble
