I had a lot of fun working on this one. Particularly doing different finishes to try to match the original. The kit's accuracy is so-so. It is probably most accurate to the way the X-15 is displayed in the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, OH. I built it more like midway through the program, but left some anachronisms which would have been hard to fix on the kit (the port window being the primary one). Anyway, I'm super happy with the result. Also note that my phone makes most matte finishes look pebbly, but the actual model doesn't look that way. The only customization I really did was to add two wires as canopy props.

So, here she is:










Finally, the kit comes with a standing pilot, which is actually a pretty decent figure. I'm going to make a base for this thing eventually and will have him standing next to the plane.

And, after posting that post, I realized I really did want a base for this, particularly for the pilot figure, which I really like. So I found a scrap rectangle of styrene, scribed some lines, roughed it up, painted it, drilled a hole for a wire into the pilot's foot and an hour and a half later, here we are:

The X-15 is one of my favorites, there's a very nice scene of the X-15 in the intro of the film 'First man' for example (perhaps on Youtube)

wish they make it in some more larger scales as well. Yours looks great, well done, cheers Steven

Thanks for the encouragement! And Waspie, I'm pretty sure the struts are only for when hydraulic pressure is off. There are pictures without them and the pilot in the seat, but any time the plane is not running, they normally have those in there. They're basically just poles. I added them because 1) they add subs detail and 2) they are brightly colored so they pop! :smiling3:
