This is the kit I wanted. Couldn't find one so I had to buy the ECR Tornado. It's not got any bombs or a Skyshadow pod. So I'm having to get those separately.

I've. Got the same kit Rick, but I'm not sure which scheme I'm going to do yet.

Same kit as me Rick, but of course we both new that (and there will be a few other big Tonkas I'm sure!
I like the Dambusters Sqn scheme - the all over camo is a good look.
Cheers

I got this from Hannants half price a few years back, I thought you did too.

What scheme will you be doing?

Hi Rick
Sounds like there's going to be a few big Tornados coming together - awesome!
I'm still umming and ahhing about the scheme yet - either first or second Gulf War for sure, but (depending on which I chose) could be Desert pink or grey. I've got aftermarket decals for Granby so even if I do chose the first Gulf War it doesn't necessarily follow that my scheme will be exactly the same.

I think this GB is top of my build list for 2018 so I hope to start January. I'll try and post my kit pic at the weekend. The kit everyone is familiar with (by now!) but I've got quite a bit of aftermarket stuff to pack into this Tonka too.

Really looking forward to this

Cheers

Work has started on this but not strictly in the order the instructions would have you do them. We are having a new kitchen and bathroom fitted soon so the garage where I spray is full of bathroom bits at the moment which means I can't use my spray booth for a while, this means I have been building various sub assemblies as far as possible.
This is where I have got -

I have contemplated aftermarket bits for this, money is tight right now, but the jet pipes are a bit light on detail, likewise the seats so I pondering raiding my piggy bank for some resin bits. Also, some of the external surface detail is almost non-existent on the top of the intakes and around the engine access doors.

One area of irritation is on the intake ramps, Revell have very helpfully put an ejector pin hole on the front facing surface of one of them...grrr!

Nice start Rick, with the extras were do you start and end. But saying that I may go down the same route. Going to start mine when I finish the Merlin.

Hi Rick
It's interesting seeing the plastic coming together. The seats look pretty good and the injection pin mark looks simple to solve.
Hoping to start mine Mid Feb so you're blazing a trail for me. This should be an impressive model once complete.

Cheers

It's been a while since I updated this thread but work has continued at a slower pace while I rebuild my work area after some other house renovations.
Tonight I got the cockpit and forward fuselage nailed together, I'm not 100% happy with the cockpit but I couldn't justify a lot of AM for this so the canopy will will be buttoned up.
Lots of sub-assemblies have been advanced with most being ready for primer, including those intakes! There are so many areas of soft or non-existent panel lines on this kit that some scribing will be needed - if I can be bothered.

Nice work Rick, and I thought it was just my kit with the poor panel lines. That's why mine is on hold at the moment I just don't feel like doing them, I need to be in the mood.

Hi Rick
This kit appears to be fighting you all the way. Soft detail, ejector pin marks and poor fit. I am sure you will sort it.
